Folks on Canning2 say that you can go online and Ace Hardware will drop ship what you want to your nearest Ace. I know many have done so for half gallon jars. HTH.

Ticka, are you wanting to make them for sale or for personal use? You can use any container. Recycle some cute little jars that come through the house. The wide mouth salsa jars would be cute. Just spray paint the lid if you want (just outside, not inside) and put a couple layers of clear sealer on, or decoupage a picture on the lid………ideas are endless!
But re: where to find canning jars. Walmart, a hardware store. All of the store here still have a big stock of canning supplies
Thank you CindyP – I was wanting to make some as gift. I don't know why I didn't think of that my hubby eats the store bought salsa all the time. Time to make a recycle box and have my containers.
Thanks for the suggestions – sometimes I just don't think outside of the box..so to say.

I'm a little slow. Would you use this BSS like an exfoliating scrub & rinse it off with warm to hot water? Or would there be other steps involved in using it? Thanks for your patience.

I made the BSS today. I didn't have the almond oil so I used some of my coconut oil. Then I used lemon extract rather than vanilla. I almost cooked it since it smelled so good.
I used a store bought scrub that was a gift the other day. Some got into my mouth. It was nasty. This morning I used my coconut/lemon scrub. Some accidentally got into my mouth & it was quite tasty!

Are there any Western New York readers out there? If so, could you advise me where to find coconut oil up here. I know WalMart carries a brand called Louella, or something in with their regular cooking oils in other states but I have been unable to find it cheaply in my neck of the woods.

Just a hint, lb: if you can find an item on line from WalMart, they will ship it to your local store for pick-up. Never did this, but several around here have, and again last night the local store told me they are still doing it.

I made some brown sugar scrub this weekend and it's awesome! It made just enough for two 1/2 pint jars; one for me, one for my bestie! I'm going to give hers to her later today, she's going to love it. I can't wait to make more!

I want to make some of the sugar scrub, sounds great and very cost effective. I want to compare the cost of Vitamin E at Walmart and Costco since I"m at both stores a lot.
Does anyone have a recipe that they have used to make a salt scrub?
Thanks Cheryl

I have a question about sweet almond oil. Is it the same as sweet oil sold at WM for ears? I asked several workers there today and they had no clue. I bought it because it said for use in food or cosmetics but I just need to be sure. It is a rather small bottle as well, any ideas where to find a larger bottle? Thanks in advance for any help. I am excited to make the scrub. I think it will be great for my nasty dry winter hands.

I believe the sweet oil is olive oil–sweet oil has usually not been purified, so it is not recommended for use in cooking.…it's not the same as sweet almond oil. Almond oil comes from almonds themselves. I haven't found it locally anywhere, only online. I make the Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub now…just sugars and canola or olive oil and the oil from a couple Vit E capsules.

Thanks Cindy. I did find vitamin e skin oil in a bottle (liquid) for around $5.00 at WM. You just need a dropper and don't have to fool with the capsules.

Oh that's a good deal! Mom gave me a bottle a few years ago, but I haven't been able to find anymore. It works great for putting a dab on cuts for healing and not having a scar :)

Thanks for posting this! I had a store brand scrub I used to love years ago but I eventually decided it was just too expensive. I'm bookmarking this and will be trying to make my own soon.
