To all the crocheting flock: I am looking for a good blanket pattern for my two year old nephew; I am pretty skilled at crocheting, I didn't say good or the best, but I do understand the stitches. Do any of you know a really "good" warm stitch? What about block stitches? I've never made a quilt out of that stitch…I want to get started on this soon. Thanks!

Hey, Ms. B. I'm slowly making a pullover using seed stitch. I'd describe it but I'm awful at that. This link shows the stitch and describes how to do it. It's a fairly dense stitch but not bulky.

PS You mentioned a stay at UVA in C'ville in an another thread. Do you still live within easy reach of Charlottesville? Enquiring (ready nosy) minds want to know.

Maud,
First, I love this stitch! I wonder what a blanket would look like stitched with this one?
Second, I see why you ask if I live close to Charlottesville…you are from Virginia! While I am very close to Virginia, in fact, eleven years ago my husband and I drove into your state to marry; in WV you have to wait for bloodtests and such and we didn't want to wait to tie the knot! We are about forty-five minutes from VA; Charlottesville is a ways off; I was flown by helicopter, it would take about three to four hours driving to get there. I have family living all over Virginia….I just haven't seen them in years!
What part of the state are you in….equally inquiring minds want to know!

Dang.
My post never posted.
I live between Charlottesville and Richmond and travel about the state quite a bit. Are you near Covington, VA? If so, perhaps we can meet for lunch or something.

Well…I do know exactly where you live, unfortunately, that's quite a ways from my coop! I live near Monterey VA. That's where my husband and I got married eleven years ago. That's closer to Staunton than Charlottesville…but we are relatively close.

I wish I could remember the name of the pattern. I LOVE it. It's a waffle stitch I believe. First row is all dc, the next is three dc followed by three fpdc all the way across, ch 2, turn and alternate the rows, either starting with the fpdc, or the dc to get the waffle look. it works up really fast, and switching colors makes it beautiful. I've made this pattern in a toddler size in less than 2 weeks before.
