I just read about a couple cute ideas on Fave Crafts. Cut the top off of a larger pumpkin to use as a vase for fall flowers, to decorate your tabletop. Make a table runner out of burlap. Or, use a sm piece to put in the dinner roll basket with a little hanging over the edge. How will you decorate your Thanksgiving table?

going with simplicity this year…. i have a dark brown table
center piece is a "blue" (silvery bluish gray) pumpkin, dark amber colored votive holders (not straight sided but rounded… kinda teardrop shaped, without the pointy top)
grandmothers taupe linen napkins & silver; great grandmothers china (noritake grasmere) which has a grayish blue & gold thin lattice like border with sprays of blue & pink flowers & my goblets/wine glasses

Simplicity is great!! I love those blue pumpkins!
Our dinner is buffet style, so the only things on the table is the tablecloth, placemats, the centerpiece (which probly won't be decided on until Wed night!), grandma's china and silver. This is the only time I use her china. She always said why hide things away and not use them. So I use them once a year.

I love the idea of using dishes that have been handed down through the generations during the holidays. It's a nice way to remember the ones they used to belong to.

leah & chrisUK…. i have an old taste of home holiday cookbook that has the burlap runner, then place a wide (almost the same length & width as the runner – but just smaller, so it is "inside" of the runner) weatherbeaten board (old barn board) on top of the burlap runner, place 3 small (like 3" high clay flowerpots) of the burgundy colored mums on top of the board (one on each end of the board and one in the middle) and then strew the runner and board with the fall leaves ~ VERY, VERY pretty, easy & probably stuff we have around the house
