Hello everyone!wave A friend and I just made our first liquid soap "paste". We followed the directions from CITR site for the "easiest" recipe and the process looked just like the pictures in the instructions. Great job with the instructions and pictures, Suzanne! sun We are at the stage of dilution, and need some clarificaton, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Since we used 23 ounces of coconut oil and 25 ounces of olive oil pomance, we are planning on using 20% distilled water dilution (using the recommendation of the recipe). Does anyone have an idea how long that the dilution process might take? Also, I am assuming that the boiling water goes into the heated crock pot with the paste and from there it must take some time to become liquid. This is based on the time it took to get the test results of the diluted paste to make sure that it was ready. Am I on the right track? Thanks in advance for any and all advice. When this is completed, next project, lavender basil soap!shimmy

Sorry, bk, just seeing this!

Did you dilute it?

Diluting can take all different sorts of time, depending on how you do it.  You can simply put boiling water in the paste and let it sit.  Or you can put it in the crock pot or pot on the stove on simmer and let it do its thing quicker.  Breaking it up as you go can make this process faster.  If you have the time and don't want to babysit it, jut put it in a covered pot on the counter and let it go.

I've read on the liquidsoapmaker group, many put it in 5 gallon bucket, cover and let it sit for a couple days (or more depending on the recipe).

Thanks so much! The good news is that it diluted just fine in only about 30-45 minutes in the crock pot. We added some glycerin, borax solution and a wonderful pink grapefruit  essential oil and it turned out great! Absolute heaven on the hands and dishessun

We did have a problem when my friend took hers home. She has very hard water and it will not bubble with her water and leaves a film on her dishes. The strange thing is that it worked wonderfully at my house. I think I will post a big "HELP" needed on the site. My friend is absolutely sick about her hard water.
