Heidi posted these last year.  Does anyone have a Homemade Ornament they would like to share?  Pics are loved!  Happy Flower

Very cute!  Hmmm, may have to make some just because they are cute – even without having a baby around!

I've been participating in an ornament swap for the last 3 years with a handful of women I met years ago online. I have one tree that I dedicate to all of those ornaments.

Here's a pic of the ornament I made for this year's swap:

Ragged Holly Ornament

This was last year's ornanment:

Ragged Pine Tree Ornie

The year before that was a gingerbread man with a gingham scarf. I don't think I have a pic of him and he's packed away.

Ohhh, maybe we could have a theme for the Christmas swap— one year ornaments, one year kitchen stuff, etc???

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!

I'm fine with ornaments, but would everybody who wants to join, be able to make some?

Last year it was something home made…in whatever you are good at.

On the other hand a little ornament fits in a card…we could do 2?

I just dunno!  On the one hand, it sounds really intriguing to have a special category each year.  But would that sort of exclude folks who don't have that particular craft talent?  Or maybe include more folks who might not otherwise join the fun?

Maybe I'm leaning toward leaving it open to anything as long as it's hand made, then everyone can join in.  But, having a theme sounds good, too!

Most crafts would lend themselves to making something along the theme wouldn't they?  Not that I DO either of these, but someone who does cross stitch could do something with a kitchen theme that year, and someone who carves could do a wooden spoon, for instance.  A soap maker could pretty much get in on any theme because whatever the theme we usually need to wash our hands, right?    wink

Obviously my opinion isn't worth much here – either way works for me!!  My craft skills are limited so will just have to use my imagination to make what little I do fit into a category, or sit it out that year, or learn a new skill!

It was just a thought about ornaments. Was thinking that more might participate if the item was small and easy/inexpensive to mail. But Astrid, many won't fit in a card ;)

And we could do a theme with them – how about an ornament that represents winter/Christmas/holiday time WHERE the giver/gifter is from?

LOL You are right…I actually found today a few ornaments I made last year..and they are bells..so they won't fit in a card.

The ones I made for this year do…I think that is why I got that idea.

But I still think we can run 2 exchanges…the one like we did last year, where the participants can make what they want as long as it is home made.

And the other with ornaments….I sign up for both I already know that happy-flower

bonita, the short explanation is that everyone who wants to participate sends a PM (private message) to a designated member and includes their mailing address. The designated member then randomly matches up folks who want to participate – and she sends a PM to each person with the name and mailing address of their gift recipient. Kind of like a secret santa or secret pal. You will send the ornament, gift, or whatever the swap is to your recipient. Someone else gets your name and mails a goodie to you.

I think two different swaps also. Some people already started things for this yr C'mas swap.

I'd be willing to participate in both swaps.

I'd certainly sign up for both. Either way I can't wait for this swap to get underway and it's only July and I'm already thinking about Christmas goodies.
