Hi.  I come to this site a lot.  This is the first time I have posted here.  My wallpaper in my bathroom has been up for a few years.  It is still very good and I hate to replace it.  The only problem is that the border at the top is coming up along the edges in some places.  Does anyone know of a good sticky glue that I can use to glue it back down.  I do not like wallpaper paste.  It is too messy.  I wish I could find just some good kind of glue.  Thanks in advance for any tips you might have.wave

Is your bathroom very steamy when showers are taken? I know that will loosen the wallpaper, especially in humid weather. Be sure and run the exhaust fan, that will help. (Learned from experience!)

I think any kind of glue should  hold the wallpaper on; I've used Elmer's, and even clear packing tape in a hidden place when I was desperate!

Good luck!

That gorilla glue will stick just about anything to just about anything…but it is thick and once you use it…unless you use it often, it will harden in the container.  So buy a small one.

If you have a spot you can't get to, think hypodermic (sp?) needle with runny glue…ask at the pharmacy…see if they will sell you one, some places will if you explain what you want it for.  That works good for loose spots in glue down vinyl or carpet too…that's where I learned it, working for a carpet store.

If I learned something today, the day wasn't a waste!

We used double stick carpet tape….WARNING…make sure there are no wrinkles when you press it down.

You CANNOT pull the wallpaper back up to reposition. Guess how I know this.wink

I have never had the problem of getting them to stick just getting them to come down…I know that Tractor Supply sells the needles that one of the other posters was talking about. I just saw them back there the other day.

I bought some seam repair glue/paste at Wal Mart several years ago when I was having issues with the border in my bathroom it worked quite well.  I thought I still had it but can't lay my hands on it at the moment.

I hang wallpaper for a living. I've seen this happen more often in bathrooms.  I think it is the excess moisture.   When the border comes lose it usually gets curled and is brittle. I have tried vinyl to vinyl border adhestive.  I takes forever to hold it down until it sticks.  I wonder if the double sided carpet tape wouldn't be easier.  You may need to pull up the border a little more to get it behind the border.  Good luck.

Hatchling,

I have solved this problem with good results and minimal effort the following way. First, find the elmers in the junk drawer and clear the clogged end.

Then if you have art paint brushes:

Pool a small amount of undiluted glue into a bottlecap or small container. Using a flat brush about 1/8" -1/4" wide, paint a thin coat of glue onto the wall. Then after a few seconds (to allow the glue to get slightly tacky) use a second clean dry flat art brush (ideally 1" wide) to brush the wall paper down a few times until adheres.

If you do not have art brushes apply the glue a small bead behind the paper and use a clean dry cloth to wipe the paper down, and any excess glue off.

This is one of those times where "less is more" applies.

Nah, no stupid chickens around here Lajoda!  Just a few who are still finding their way around the coop!  You're fine!  Happy to have you here with the rest of us chickens!

I once had a man working for me who I discovered couldn't read. He was really quite smart but he simply could not read. He said that it made him feel stupid. I told him that it was just ignorance. In his mind the two words were synonymous. I told him that stupid and ignorant were like beauty and ugly. Ignorant is only skin deep but stupid goes clear to the bone. I found him a remedial reading teacher. She taught him to read and he repaired her house.

We can cure ignorant but there ain't much we can do for just plain stupid.french

Thanks Buckeye,

I appreciate the welcome but I gotta tell you, a girl can get a complex around here. Just when I figured out I was a Hatchling and posted what I thought was a correction, I got turned into a Banty! I am having an identity crisis.
