That is so cute. I love tomato cages! I sprayed 2 of them black and secured the part that goes into the ground to make a cone, then wrapped them with twinkle lights and put that on top of planters that are full of dirt from the summer you can cut some pieces of wood and put them down in the planters to secure the cage to–I use some old tomato stakes that I painted black as well. Then put one on either side of our front door and plugged them in–they are beautiful, and you can find the cages for nothing along the curbs after garden season and twinkle lights are so cheap.

I'm happy to find this forum on the site. I love re-doing junk. Your tomatoe cage sleigh was fantastic Cindy. I've made a tiered dessert plate from three different size glass plates & flower vases all from the junk store. I can spend hours in those interesting places.

My spice cupboard…….the one that made quite a project of redoing my kitchen!
I so wish I had a before picture of this…… I mentioned to John of wanting to use this box that I'd found on the curb during Ludington junk days (you can put anything you want on the curb and they'll pick it up for free!) for a spice cupboard — and he had the project started before it was cemented in my head! It was originally a toolbox that was painted gray. The paint was all flaking off, the inside was grubby and it had a clasp to keep the box closed. It was meant to lay down flat (obviously).
This is the wood down to the bare bones, just mineral oiled it. I added the shelves and a glass knob for the handle. The boards on the door were on the inside (they prohibited the jars from fitting), but I liked the wood and the old screws, so I put those on the outside.

All of my spices are in canning jars now! With labels! I designed a label in Word using a handwritten font that fit perfectly on the labels that come with the jars!

The glass knob I rescued off of something else that works perfect for a knob here!

Great find for free – love it as a spice cabinet or cabinet for the kitchen. Great idea to put the spice sin canning jars too.

Most of my kitchen cupboards are stand alone junk finds too. But not quite so cute as yours. Maybe if I at least painted them in matching colors.
The large jars of spices, is that because you buy in bulk or because you grow them or a mixture of both?

lavenderblue, those large jars are just the 8 oz jelly jars. the larger sized jars of spices you buy in the store fit in those (and the fact when I cleaned out the pantry, I had doubles of some things….I knew I had it, but just couldn't find it!)……but I will be growing more of my own this year! Expanding the herb garden!
I love the old wood look……..if I had all old junk finds, they'd all be sanded down and oiled…..I would have my dream kitchen! We are redoing parts of the kitchen this year, but it will be new wood to look old if I can't find old wood by then. I do have scouts out for an old barn to be torn down or something like that.

Ok, I haven't done this BUT! I want to! and I have the green jars and the insulators and the wine bottles saved to do it … not sure where to put it, I just did a switch around with my lights in the kitchen a few months ago…..
I can't post someone else's pics, so here's the link

Oh, Cindy – there are sooo many places this could be used effectively! And it wouldn't even need to be the combination – a single would be great in the chicken house, an extra light over an island, a corner that needs just little more light. Oh, all sorts of places!

I'm thinking of doing a bar of 3 Ball jars over top of the bar (yes taking down what I put up there a few months ago) and changing out the chandelier in the dining room with a few or 6 of the wine bottles. And maybe in the bathroom some of the light insulators……….. Also on that site there was a teacup/saucer glued together and turned upside down with a light in them, that was cute, too.
