I've made HP bar soap several times and now I'm interested in trying liquid soap! The only time I can do the lye stuff is after the kids go to bed, and the bar soap recipes are quick enough that I can do that and still get to bed at a decent hour, however I'm seeing that liquid soap takes a lot longer. Is there a point in the process where you can leave the mixture to cook on it's own for 6-8 hours or so?

If you aren't there to watch it, I recommend turning it off for the night. You can always turn the crockpot on in the morning if the residual heat hasn't finished cooking the paste. I have done this a time or two myself.
