My children and I have tried two projects with felting.  They were a little purse and a felted soap on a rope.  But when we do it the layeres of felting really don't "felt" together.  We have tried adding more water and spendiing more time rubbing the wool roving during the projects but it just isn't happening.  Do we need more soap or a psecific type of soap (we used liquid dish detegent). Any tips from felters on what we might be doing wrong?  Here's one of the projects we worked on if it helps you see what we were trying to do:
