Leahld22,
Do you have those patterns to share? I always wanted to knit my own dishcloths but still haven't found the time to learn knitting. lol. However, I do have fun crocheting. :)

Glad you "upcycled" a foot stool, Rose.
My maternal granmother used to upholster things. She could do anything with practically nothing! I wish I had learned that skill from her. She is the one who taught me to embroider.

Hi summersun! Sorry just found this post today. Yes, just go to http://www.favecrafts.com you can choose crochet for the craft then find washcloths patterns there. you can then print out the free patterns or put them in your online craft box on the site to refer to when you want..that's what i do. Have fun there!

Picked up this pattern for fingerless mittens yesterday at Hobby Lobby. If I ever learn to crochet, they will be at the top of my To Do list! http://redheart.com/Libraries/…..WR2017.pdf
(Instead of waiting for me to learn all that, Leah, you might want to just do some up for yourself. )

Those of you who can do upholstry, I applaud you! Hubby and I attempted to re-cover one of our chair seats this afternoon (we're having company for Easter and don't want that ratty looking chair seen!). We looked at e-how and thought we could do it; two heads are better than one, right? Of course, if the heads are on people with absolutely no talent or patience……
Well, it took about 2 hours and we are still married! The corners don't look professional but it looks much better.

Leah, those washcloths are pretty! I like the round ones shown on that page, too!

It occurs that we have a topic for posting craft links, and here we have just all posted a bunch of them here – in a topic which will disappear someday. Alas, will go looking for the "right" place to put them. Later…

Leah – favecrafts is a great site!! I have just looked over the crochet and coped a dishcloth. There is so much on there – many things I want to try like the many crocheted flower pins. I loved the socks made from scrap yarn.

What a gorgeous weekend! This week was warmer than our whole summer last
year. Anyway, yesterday I thought I'd finally like to try making a rug
for fun, and I looked up some videos on youtube and made one. I decided
to make a woven rag rug instead of braided rug so I wouldn't have to sew
anything, and it was pretty easy. Altogether it took about 7 hours I
think to do about a 2 x 2 1/2 ft. rug.

Wow! That takes a long range outlook to make christmas ornaments in MAY! I'm impressed!
There's a special thread where you can put a link to your Artfire shop … here it is in case you're interested (we try to corral things all in one place) http://chickensintheroad.com/f…..our-links/

Thanks! I found I had a few different shirts that I couldn't get stains out of, and they all were complimentary in color. A T Shirt and a couple of knitted shirts. Then I dug out an old brown apron to have more material. That one frayed a lot but in a rag rug it looks kind of authentic. It worked out really well, and it's a little crooked but it's my first one. Also I learned a lot about cutting with the grain of the fabric, especially in a knit, and about the width of the strips and how they'll weave together depending on that. And I learned not to pull too tightly around the edges or the rug will curl. It was fun, I did it while watching some shows and while my husband drove to and from the beach for the kids, and while sitting at the beach. It was better than trying to read. I can't read at the beach and keep an eye on my kids at the same time, but this was doable.

Thank you! I think I'm going to try old sheets next time for a tighter weave and something different.
