It is real simple this one, just used fabric I didn't like anymore and scraps.

Cut strips (i believe 3.5 inch wide) and sewed them together.

The back is fabric where I appliqued stars on and I quilt around them.

Doing some altered art today. Covered a Composition Book with pretty scrapbook paper and embelishments. Using it for quotes and sayings for scrapbook pgs and cardmaking. Also made tabs for Chirstmas, babies, celebrations, etc. Also have a section for sketches,or templates for card designs. Have added to it already and have some to transfer from a little notebook I was jotting stuff in.I got a couple more large and small to cover for a notepad to keep next to computer, and a journal.

I don't know if this is crafts or not, but right now I'm painting my 40some old vanity in my house.

As some know..and some don't, we live in an old farmhouse, we are renovating it, but with a house in the city still to sell, it is all lowbudget.

Hope to finish tonight and will show before and after pictures..it looks pretty sharp (I think)

I'm pouring through the free patterns at Lion Brand Yarn looking for something very short and sweet to knit or crochet, my patience feels frayed today.

I just KNOW that everyone here is signed up to that site right? RIGHT!?!  The free patterns are so worth it!  I'll post a link over on the 'links' thread just in case.

There's also a lady on Etsy that has some nice hat patterns I'll post to as well, but those are for sale.  I just wanted to mention the freebee patterns here!

If tomatoes are a fruit, then isn’t ketchup technically a

I'm going to paint today, after painting my bathroom vanity and 10 birdhouses this week to put on the fenceposts by chickens and goats, I can't stop.

I got lots of craft books/magazines and every time I browse in those books/magazines I think..I want to make that..and that, but I hardly ever do it.

BUT for today I picked one out..and I'm going to make it…time enough because it is snowing and it is coming down, no way we are going anywhere today.

Oh I'm also going to make 24 muffins for my boy to bring to his curling tournament tomorrow..that is..if it won't get cancelled.

Show us what you have painted and what you do today, please! I would love to see them!

I finished this cheetah today and made a lot of newspaper pots for seeding. I made four blueberry pies from pastry made yesterday. That's not really "crafting" is it?

Crocheting a few sm projects to get back in the hang of it paid off. Yesterday I crocheted a cell phone holder that I designed myself! (no instructions) It has a flap and a tassle on the front. Its fun to make something up as you go…Happy FlowerI just dc a strip wide enough and long enough to cover my phone with a few added rows for a flap finish off. Then I turned the piece over, did a sl st seam on ea side up to where I wanted the flap to start and finish off. Turned the piece inside out. Then sl st in ea st around the flap with the cover face down. Chain one (dont turn)and sc in ea stich around finish off. For the tassle Cut 3 long pieces of yarn, same sz. (longer than the phone cover,I let the tassle hang below the bottom of the piece.) Holding strands tog  and folded in half make a loop, center it in the last row of your flap. Pull the ends thru and tighten. Then I just made a knot in the strands near the end of the phone case and let fairly long fringe hang past the end of the case. Only took about an hr or so to make!Maybe you want to make one! (you could sc the phone case if you want a tighter weave. I wanted to be able to see thru it a little.) I used a sz H crochet hook.

I was knitting a pink wash cloth with a heart in the center for one of my grandDs the other day and  kept losing my place. I thought about how to prevent that and I came up with a magnetic marker. I went to the front of the frig and got a magnet from the local pizza place and cut a couple of strips about 3/4 inch wide and then cut a strip of duct tape and taped the strips together at one end. I just  put the strips over the edge of the page and under the row I was working on and the magnets stuck together with the page in between and no more lost place. I though it might help someone else out too. You can find so many free patterns on line for the cloths with things knitted in the middle. The grandkids love their own wash cloths in their favorite colors.

Great idea, Linda!  Am thinking here of other ways to use that idea as well.  We get soooo many of those magnets, and I hate to just throw them away.

Hmmmm.

Oh, and the personalized clothes is also a terrific idea.  Sounds lovely, and such a nice way to have a little seasonal something.

The only thing I working on now are embroidered pillowcases. Hand stitched,  even though I have a new machine.  I have problems staying focused, so it is easier to hand stitch, I can put it down and restart anytime.  And I did so a whole spool of peaches and cream cotton yarn, I crocheted pot holders/dish cloths, what ever you want to call them.  I can't understand the patterns, I just do some single, some double, whatever comes to mind.   Guess the sisters will get those for Christmas this year.

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!
