Have a dish cloth nearly square! Will have to wait until next week to find out how to bind it off. Also working on a "scarf." It will be as long as it becomes, then will know how to finish it after class next week.
Took a trip to Joanne'a today and found some yummy feeling yarn about half price, so got some of it. They didn't have any cotton yarn that felt good, so it will be back to Wally World for more Peaches & Cream. It just handles nicely, and I like it.
Didn't really find anything else for supplies or yarn but it sure felt good to get out for a bit, even in the cold. So, a little knitting here, a little knitting there, and eventually there will be more than a dish cloth done!
Hmmm. May have to sew lace on this dish cloth, add some other embellishments and frame it! It will be much too special to use as a dish cloth! Teehee.
Oh, did get some pointed at both ends needles to start some fingerless mittens one of these days. Thought a pair of those might be nice to have around for chilly winter days or nights when one doesn't really want to be sitting around wearing gloves but would like the extra warmth. Not ready to start that project yet, but do now have a tote bag for the projects under way. (Hurray for the clearance rack at Joanne's!)

Pete, You'll like fingerless gloves! My friend has knitted two pair for me cause I'm "knitting-challenged" so far. My husband laughed at me wearing them, but they really keep you warmer.

I took a unused CD and glued some thick white christams garland around it, then glued some small gold balls around it. I put a glass tea light in the center. you could use any colored garland and embellishments here. You could use a taller glass candle holder too.

I forgot to say I put felt on the back of one CD. I just traced the CD on to the felt. On one I put those felt dots so it wont hurt furniture. Great table decorations for a party etc.

I might be a bit early but I finished a few items today, who might end up in the Christmas swap the end of the year.
I have one myself..and made 3 more, because so many people like them.
And I varnished my game board I made 2 of them a while ago, but never put varnish on.
A friend of mine is sick with kidney stones..so I thought one of these boards, might chear her up..the other one is mine

I'm making "plarn"–strips of plastic cut from plastic grocery bags. I'm starting on my maiden project by crocheting with plarn into the center of a dish cloth to make a "scrubber". Looks easy and practical. Next it will be onto trying a tote of some kind. Then it will be seed mats and visions of SPRING. We just got another 4-5 inches this morning with 3-4 more coming Sunday, so SPRING looks a long time away.

The scrubber dishcloth is a great idea mommafox!
I spent most of the morning crocheting a pink baby bootie. That's right just one bootie. I had never made one before so I think the next one will go eaiser.

My niece made me 3 kitchen scrubbies today……….acrylic yarn makes a great scrubby! And she's learning to crochet, so these were excellent tutorials! Single crochet, double crochet, around in a circle!
mommafox — have you seen how to fuse the plastic grocery bags? I think it would make an excellent "bottom" for the inside of crocheted plarn totes for grocery bags, make the bottom very sturdy.

Yes, I did see how to fuse the plastic bags, and I agree, it will make a great, sturdy bottom for a tote. I need to get a bigger crochet hook, though, before I can proceed with my dishcloth. All mine are way TOO small. . Another trip to WallyWorld is lurking.

I took a stained glass class today, learning how to make glass beads. The second class is next Sat. It was so much fun, and so different from what I usually do with glass, that I asked him to order a kit for me so i can do this at home when the class concludes. We pulled melted glass to make long strands called Stringers, then twisted 2 different colors of glass together to make Twisties. Then we made small beads and larger beads. Next week we'll expand on that to make different shapes, dots, flowers and more. Is anyone else here a glasser?

Not a glasser, but it sounds so intriguing! My uncle used to work at a glass factory, he'd bring stretched bottles home all the time…….they were just wonderful!

On the internet I just found where a lady made wool dryer balls. She felted wool sweaters found at goodwill etc and then cut up scraps and rolled the scrapes in a ball. then she made a six sided ball out of the felt sweater parts, sewed them together, stuffed the ball with the scraps and hand sewed together. they are suppose to help with static in the dryer and with makeing the cloths soft. I want to try tese. I have 4 sweaters to felt. There is so much you can do with the sweaters once they are felted. I liked the mittens, hats, slippers or socks. One person even made tall green trees for her mantel for CHristmas. One lady made a beautiful flower pin to wear. It had 2 shads of pink and lime green leaves. I saw potholders, blankets, tote bags too.

Jane, Were the scraps she used for stuffing wool too? How many balls did she put in the dryer at once?

She made the outer ball out of the wool sweaters and then stuffed them with stripps of wool she wove into a ball. You just put one in the dryer at a time. homemade version of those dryer balls they now sell.
