These are all fantastic ideas, but Flatlander forgot to mention "bring a shovel".  wink

Langela, I am a long ways from Iowa, but I definitely would throw in a free cup of coffee–even some pie–if someone would come get these.  happy-flower

My problem with using them as 'decor' is that my house has so many windows that I don't have wall space for hanging things.  NOT complaining–I think the windows are about 90 percent of the reasons I bought this place.  Most old places (mine was built in 1872) are dark, but whoever built this one incorporated the views into the house.

I guess I should do a picture post sometime soon–make y'all jealous!!

I just haven't been the same since that house fell on my sister.

Another idea from the DIY Mother Earth News magazine from a few months ago, showed a greenhouse built out of old windows.  I kept that issue to refer back to as a future reference.  The bottom portion of the greenhouse was wood siding, but the upper half of the greenhouse was made from the windows.  It looked really cool.  It sure gave me an idea for a future project.

I saw a 12 pane window in a shop once that they used to mount pressed flowers and herbs. it was beautiful.

I (sorta) have a farm in Africa.

Doesnt this remind you all of the old shadow box?  I know it's not the same but you put a mirror behind it and stuff on shelves and you have it! lol  Am I the only old one here!  lol  lips-are-sealed

Hello everyone! This is my first post…I just had to share (& show) what my daughter does with "old windows". IF it is allowed…..please follow this link to Cindy Lees' web-site.

http://www.shadesbycindy.ca

She was a bank manager and quit that job to open her own studio…..

She started out making lamp shades at first & teaching that technique as well…..then took a class for "Window Art" and now teaches with 3 or 4 school board districts as well as holds classes in her studio.

Hope you enjoy….Don't forget to take a peek at her students finished items too.

Have a great evening.wave

Thank you Mary. As any Mom would, I do appreciate what you said. Did you get a chance to check out what her students had made as well?

Talk another time?

Ciao!

Ah, yes, I did look around and see what her students did as well.  I loved it all.

We can talk on 'Jibber Jabber' all we want.  I hope you will find it and stop in!  :)

I love my cold frame made wth a patio door. If I had some extra windows, I would make more of them with windows.

Welcome, Canadian She-Wolf!  :D  Your daughter's work is nice!  I am an art teacher, so I'm excited to read that she is teaching.  :)

I also like Sonia's greenhouse idea!  You guys have gotten me all inspired!  I'm going to have to go find some more old windows!  (This time, with glass!)
