Mountainkat, I can imagine your chaos! "Wild" is a good book to read in little chunks, if you can manage that.

When I first started attending that particular book group, my son (I only have 1) was in pre-school and used to play in the corner while we discussed the selection. Now he's going to be a sophomore in high school! I'm lucky the meeting time is during the day so I've been able to keep going over the years. One day you'll have free time too!

Ooh, ooh, ooh! Actually cooked something for supper tonight!!

Had some left over BBQ sauce and pork chops were on sale yesterday. So, fired up the crockpot this morning, added the mess of pork chops with the BBQ sauce. Took a bite a bit ago and they are yummy!

Guess we need some sort of go with, though. Hmm. Some sort of potatoes. Maybe a quick nuke - we like the texture - sort of somewhere between baked and boiled.

Hello all, another newbie here...

My name is Glenda, and I hail from British Columbia, Canada.

At the moment, I DON'T live in the country, but in a suburb of Vancouver. Interestingly enough, it's one with a quite well known rodeo, lol.

I have two grown sons, a significant other of six years, and two little furbabies- Popcorn (a teeny tiny Maltese), and Peanut ( a Shorkie with a Yorkie head and colouring, and the barrel body and pushiness of a Shi-Tsu).

I recently turned 55, and somehow its tweaked my heart about home, growing up in a small northern town, and thinking about returning when/if? I retire.

I've had a lot of different jobs in my life, from working in a sawmill to professional singer, but for the last fourteen years I've worked as a teacher with severe to profoundly hard of hearing students in an elementary school setting. I've recently graduated from university in Speech and Language Pathology Assisting, as a therapist, and love to be able to work with the kiddos using the skills I've obtained. Absolutely loooove my job! (If anyone hears me talking about going back to school, please slap me upside the head! Seriously. I've also spent a good chunk of my life as a professional student, and I need to stop!) I also work as a freelance copyright editor.

Deep down, I'm still a small town girl. I miss the real stars at night, the ones you can't see from the burbs. I miss being able to walk alone at night without fear, quiet, snowy winter nights. I guess its true, you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl. I never realized how grateful I would end up being for that.

I learned about this site from a web-friend who lives in Birmingham, Alabama. She recommended a recipe from it, so I bookmarked it, and it's been sitting on my desktop ever since. I've been home from work for three days with the flu, and just spied it sitting there in the corner, so thought I'd give it a click. I wish I'd done it long ago! I love reading the posts, getting tips, watching the videos, and, just everything about it! Thank you Suzanne, for this little 'feels like home' place to come!

Sorry for the book, I didn't mean to write so much, and I'll stop chewing your ear off now!

I look forward to meeting you all.

~glenda~

I can't remember the last book I read- for me, being a pregnant-stay-at-home-mom = chaos! I can't imagine having time to go to a book club, so lucky you!

YUM! I canned it in small jars thinking it would make great gifts, and then was told in no uncertain terms by my husband that I hadn't made enough and better not give any away. And that he'd help me pick next year!

So I made some egg and sausage muffins. A breakfast sausage patty on the bottom, eggs and cheese on top, baked in muffin papers in a muffin tin. He is happy. Says they taste like a little omelet.

They should freeze well as the eggs are scrambled.

The local store had strawberries for $1.00 a pound, so i bought enough to do a dehydrator for and those should last probably all year. One pound per tray is about average.

And I found that a serrated tomato slider (the kind that will slice the whole tomato) works very well on strawberries too. Quick and uniform slices. But watch it, those little blades are sharp, lol

Gotta love a sale like that!

Sometimes we make huckleberry pancakes, my family loves them. I also make jam and syrup with them. I love to make a topping for cheesecake with them as well... Huckleberries are so dang good. I have made a blend of jams with huckleberry, raspberry and blackberry. Great together!
