OfflineI am confused
by crab apples. I have what I think is a mock crab apple and a "standard" crab apple in my yard. The one I call "mock" has very small fruits on it that are red already and are very very tart. Are these ripe now? Articles and posts that I am reading hint that they are processed in the fall like regular apples. (I am in SC were we had just had a mild winter) Some say they are very sweet and others very tart. I would like to try making jelly out of them. Any advice or knowledge sharing is appreciated. I also will be having a bumper crop of passion fruit this year. Any recipes or preserving advice is welcomed. (Never tasted these before either) Thanks Gals!
