I bought a large case of kiwi from a local grower.  I've made the kiwi jam recipe from BBB and I've been dehydrating them, too (kids love to snack on them).  But I'm wondering if anyone has a great kiwi recipe?  (Yes, I know strawberry-kiwi but I don't want to buy strawberries shipped across country when in 3 months I can pick them here!)

Not sure if you are looking for daily use or long term. I like to use Kiwi in my smoothies, Kiwi Sorbet, when my children were young they liked them also as a frozen treat .. slice thick, insert a popcicle stick and dip in chocolate and freeze.. long term, I know you mentioned you made jam.. I was thinking Kiwi preserves would be great used as a glaze on chicken or pork. Kiwi is such a super food, good for you that your grocer accomodated you with buying a large case of them. :)

I see that you have a dehydrator. Have you thought of pureeing them and trying them as fruit roll ups? I have used many different fruits to make fruit leather. You can roll them in waxed paper and store in a jar.. mine never quite got that far. haa

Fruit Pizza is the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw kiwi.

Yes, I am thinking more long-term.  I actually got the case directly from the grower… commercial kiwis are gassed to make them ripen but these weren't,  so I have these in a cooler in the garage.  (If I put them in the fridge, they'd last up to 6 months but I don't have the space!)  I check on them once a week and take out the ones that are ripe, since this winter has been a warm one and it's not as cool out there as I'd like and we have no basement.

Kiwi preserves are on today's list, I found the recipe flipping through the big Ball cookbook last night and was intrigued.  :-)

Oh my goodness!  I am so jealous!!!  My kids adore kiwi, but they are so expensive here that I seldom buy them.  When I do catch them on sale I usually use them to make fruit pizza for my kids, and if I get enough, dehydrate for snacking. My daughter and I enjoy them just by themselves – cut in half and eat it with a spoon.  We also like them sliced or cubed.  I have used diced kiwi in a chicken salad before and really liked it.

Yeah, that's why I bought so many… local, organic kiwis for 25 cents each!  Plus, since I bought so many she just threw lots of extras in the case.  I'm dehydrating a bunch (so that I can mix them with dehydrated strawberries in the spring) but I still have them coming out my ears  :-)  We won't get more until next December, so I want to make them last!
