This is as good a place to put this as i know. This morning I open a jar of damson plum preserves that I put up in 1987. They are still in perfect condition. 24 years has not exceeded the shelf life of well made preserves and jelly.

Ross – that is funny!  I believe you.  We ate carrots that my Mom canned when I was 16(that would have been 1966 – ugh!  I'm old!) up until my kids were teens . . . . they still tasted and looked like they did when we first canned them.  We also ate beef that was canned that same year for almost 14 years!  That was the summer I spent on the back porch, sorting & scrubbing carrots – instead of doing "teenager" things.  Good memories – NOW!  Not so much then :)

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, Just pee on it and walk away                                                                                                                              unknown

I second that opinion,  I was just telling the ladies at work, that I need to reach them to can.

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!

When my mother was about 83 she broke a leg and was in assisted living for a time while she recovered. She told my brother to get her out of the place because all of those "old" people were driving her nuts. Turned out she was the oldest resident. Anyway she got bored and took over the kitchem to teach the other women there how to make bread. The bread was served at meals for as long as she was there teaching.
