I have a toilet too….lol  My husband thinks I'm crazy!  I also have an old tea pot, a cowboy boot, and buffalo skull with cactus in it.

What an awesome topic!  I have an old truck tire rim that I put heavy plastic down in, filled with soil and use as a planter.   I also have an old enamel coffee pot, several rusted and dented metal buckets, but my favorite is old wooden chairs that I can cut a hole in to place the flower pot down in.  I found an old rusted out tool box at a dump site that I planted day lillies in several years ago.  I love to repurpose everything I can!

Was reading here trying to think of what I could re-use as a planter when I remembered I already had done a couple of things….I took an old plastic toy wheel barrow my kids had when they were little and planted some herbs and petunias in it last year.  This year it will be johnny jump-ups and herbs, 'cause that is what I have left over.

We also had a metal fire pit a year or so ago. You know, the kind that the bottom always burns out of. Well, it did. Last year I lined what was left of the metal bowl part with a plastic garbage bag, planted mums, sage and corkscrew willow in it and set it back on the metal ring. It looked like a witch's cauldron, sort of. We used it as a Halloween decoration. The sage is coming back but unfortunately the willow tree died, darn it. Of course, the mums died. Think I'll use calendula this year, instead  of mums, as much as  I like them.

And the sage should probably have been "white sage". Isn't that what they use in spiritual ceremonies and all? Smudging and cleansing and such. Think I'll get more use out of garden sage, but in keeping with the theme…

My mother will plant a plant in anything! from cups and coffee mugs (tea mugs) to a bra. My poor granny…haha. She was a very large woman, well my mom thought it would be funny to plant 2 tomato plants in her bra, one in each cup…haha! My granny was in her 70's at the time and really didn't know what to think of it. So she strung a line and they grew as hanging tomato plants! right off her front porch. That was the funniest that I have seen so far!

LOL! That is funny! I plant in a teapot and an old horse bucket. I also have an old weathered rocking chair with a tall dahlia growing through the seat and scarlet runner beans growing up the side.
