i am anxious to find some Morells, and with this crazy weather we have had in Ohio and other parts of our country I'm wondering about when to start looking for them.  have any of you had any luck finding any yet.  I know some people in WV always get theirs before we do.  Will we be mushroomless this year because of our bad weather or will they just be really late?

Here in Missouri they always say you need warm sunny days to bring them up. I have heard several people already finding them. It's cold and dreary here now but a week or so ago we had temps in the upper eighties. Love those morels!

I live in southern Ohio (Ross County), they have been finding mushrooms for about the last week or so. I would think that all of this rain would help but they also need warmer weather. Good luck, I hope you find some.

Yea, we've been short on the warm weather .  That's why I even wondered if they would be up this spring at all, or maybe just late.

one of my cousins found 64 around one tree!  happy-flowerHe was really happy. I think that they are really coming up so you may want to go to your spot to look for them!  I hope you find a lot!

Do these grow in all parts of the country and I've just been missing them or they only grow in certain places? I don't think I've ever seen one here in Alabama, if I did, I guess I didn't know what it was and certainly didn't know it was edible!

Steph, I found this….

"

Do morels grow in my region of the United States?
This is an often-asked question and with the exception of a few geographical areas, the answer is more than likely -yes. However, while it seems the Great Lakes region in the midwest is the hot bed for the morel, the morels are found in most regions of the US with the exception of the desert and deep southern coastal areas. The Great Morel suggests that you contact your area's nature and wildlife department for assistance as an added information source. You can also check out The Great Morel's sighting maps to see when your region is having harvesting activity. While there are many places where the morel is not natural to the geography, it also is not uncommon to find them in mulch beds for what The Great Morel refers to as "landscape morels".

I'm in SW Ga. so we may not have them in this area.  I've never seen them here.  But I sure used to get a bunch when I lived up in Ill.

If I learned something today, the day wasn't a waste!

I spotted a few yesterday. They were large and very pretty. But I have yet to get up the nerve to eat any.

I SO-O-O-O want to find some!  I think it's just been too cool.  In the past, I always found them whenever the May Apples popped up – and I haven't seen any May Apples yet.  I've seen them advertised on Craigslist for $25.00 a pound!  At that price, if I want Morel's – I'll have to find them myself!

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or play with it, Just pee on it and walk away                                                                                                                              unknown

yep! $25 a pound is too pricy for me,surprised but it does take quite a few to make a pound. However, at that price I think I'll have to forego the delicacy.
