I have to disagree about the canned pumpkin. Not even real pumpkins are as good as hubbard or buttercup squash, neither is butternut. I find butternut squash and pumpkins to be very bland in comparison and canned pumpkin doesn't have much flavor at all and is not very sweet. Its not a lot of work to prepare a fresh pumpkin. I just slice in half, turn upside down in a little water and steam. Scoop out the inside and freeze in 3 cup measures. (3 cups make 2 pies with my recipe.)
