Yes it will come back.
I finally have my rhubarb in a spot where it will stay, many times I replanted it..it died of then…but started again.
Now I have one more plant to move..from my garden to my friends…and then hubby and his lawn mower came by….and gone was the rhubarb for my friend.
But it will start again, you might cover it with something though, that still lets the light in but , so your rooster can't touch it anymore.

OfflineI've started some from seed! Talk about having to baby something! I have to keep it shaded in our afternoon sun so it won't burn up until it is big enough to hold it's own. I also have to water it at least every other day! It is only about 3-4" high! I've got more started that are less than 1"….they are still in the garden house!
