I am ordering some heirloom seeds, but don't necessarily need 25 plants of each. Can I save some for next year so I don't have to waste these and then buy more next year?

Yep. Protect them from moisture, bugs and rodents.  Some seeds save better than others, but most will last at least a year.  I keep mine in the packets in a mason jar, in a cabinet.  Some folks keep them in the fridge or the freezer, but mine have always germinated well.

I just haven't been the same since that house fell on my sister.

Thanks! I was hoping they would. Now I don't have a to have 400 tomato plants just so I don't waste the seed.clover

I usually do double duty if I'm going to save them.

I put the packet inside a zip bag & then put all the zip bags in a mason jar!  We have LOTS of moisture down here! yes

If I learned something today, the day wasn't a waste!

A friend of mine told me the best place to keep seeds is in an ammunition box! They are made to be moisture resistant(for the ammo) so they work great for seeds too! Right now our Atwoods has them for around $8, but I am sure any outdoor store would carry them if you don't have an Atwoods near you. And here are 2 websites I found that give you an idea of how long some of the most common seeds will last if kept properly.
