Hi! Hope everyone is keeping warm. Here in Pa it is 6 degrees! Not the kind of weather that I like to go outside . Just put a pumpkin spice cake in the oven a little while ago. Smells so good in the kitchen. Going to put  a cream cheese icing on it when it's cooled. Yum!   Alanna  chef

I make pumpkin spice cake and ice it with an icing made with powdered sugar cream cheese and lime juice. Different and good.

I have a batch of 25 percent whole wheat bread rising.

My bread came out perfect. Sometime back there was a thread concerning yeast when you don't have any. This bread used about a 1/16 teaspoon of yeast. I mixed the whole wheat flour (2 cups ) with water (1 cup) and a good pinch of yeast sunday morning before going to church. This morning I added 6 cups of flour and a cup and a quarter of water, a half tablespoon of salt and a quarter cup of fat. My kitchen was cool 70 degrees and so was the dough. It was after 3 o'clock when I shaped the three round loaves.  It was about 4:30 when Iput the loaves in a warmer place to rise some more and well afer five I pre heated the oven to 450 and baked the loaves for 45 minutes.

I just put two loaves of banana bread in the oven.  I have to start using the frozen bananas up as they are taking over our freezers.  Hopefully, I will be able to freeze some for later.  It's always best sliced frozen from the freezer.  chef

I'm going to make some chocolate thin mint cookies today.  Can't seem to keep the GS cookies around long enough to satisfy my cravings.  Daughter is visiting in early March and wants me to make them for her so I will make a few batches before she comes. I hope they last until she gets here…

Today is my baking day, so I have made (so far!) a carrot cake, brownies, coconut blondies, 2 loaves of sandwich bread and 1 dozen dinner rolls. That should keep us set in lunch goodies, snacks, desserts and sandwich bread for a couple days :)

I haven't baked in a while, but here is a funny— my oldest son works at a bakery and this past weekend went to a class,  he came home and shared a wonderful croissant recipie with me,

it starts out  13 lbs of butter,  I haven't stopped laughing yet!!

Don't cry because it's over—smile because it happened!

I made biscuits for sunday morning coffee at our church and someone asked for the recipe. I said 10 pounds of flour, one can of baking powder, four tablespoons of salt and they walked away.
