OfflineYes, today is baking day! Since the oven is on low anyway to keep things from freezing until the furnace is functioning again, figured something should be in there!
Made pepperoni rolls and hamburger buns yesterday. So far today, only some cornbread, but more is on the way. Since somebody here mentioned muffins, that is next (after a lunch break – sloppy joes on some of those rolls made yesterday), then more cornbread (hope to end up with enough to make some cornbread salad and cornbread dressing), then would like to finally make a fruitcake!
We shall see…

Offline18 banana nut muffins in the oven right now. I just took two 9" round cakes pans of birthday cake for DH & DD out of the oven. Will top with cooked white icing and have white chocolate ganache filling & strawberries in the center. I need to make bread this afternoon. It's cold here so having the oven going is helping keep the kitchen a bit warmer.

OfflineA loaf of wheat in the oven now. I'm trying a recipe from "Artisan Bread in 5 minutes a day". I hope it's good, because I have high hopes for this method (basically making a huge batch of wet dough, storing it in the fridge, and baking as needed) and the companion book "Healthy bread in 5 minutes a day".

OfflinePecan pie muffin! That sounds great! I didn't put much sugar in my lil' egg custards this time, but did a light sprinkle and brought out the torch and made a nice little sweet crispy topping. Interesting that the natural sugar didn't 'melt' as easily as the white sugar does. Hmmm….

OfflineDoes Au Gratin Potatoes count as baking? I guess not, but I made Fried Chicken and Au Gratin Potatoes for supper. Lately I've been looking for old recipes and doing a lot of cooking. I used a chicken recipe from 1921, and a potato recipe from 1894. I'm having such fun! I'm putting up posts later this week on my blog. Suzanne

I know this is an older post but…how did the bread turn out?
Does anyone have a recipe for this type of bread they would like to share? I couldn't find one on Farm Bell…that doesn't mean it's not there!![]()
