No just a small little toaster oven. I can make 6 cinnamon rolls or 4 large biscuits at a time.

I have to turn them over partways or they don't cook all the way through. The lil oven has heating elements on the top and bottom and fans on the side for convection I guess.

None of the pans I have fit in there. I guess I need to go to Marshalls or something and see if I can get anything on sale for cheap.

Making some more Whole Grain Grandmother Bread today; I've got a bunch of cyclists coming over Sunday morning for a pre-ride breakfast, and I'm going to make a strata with bread, eggs, sausage, cheese, and sauteed veg (let me know if you'd like the recipe).

I also want to try this Lemon Yogurt Tart recipe (http://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-lemon-yogurt-ice-box-tart-recipes-from-the-kitchn-169454) this weekend; I've got homemade Greek yogurt and a jar of lemon curd that need to get used up.

It's baking day…and I can't get myself motivated.  no  Thought I'd come here to find some inspiration.  Oatmeal cookies!  And Dee58m…making that bread you told me about.

STH, that strata sounds great.  I'm a big fan of dishes that you can put all together in a baking dish or skillet.  Will you put your recipe up on FBR?

Today is the umpteenth running of the Little 500 here in B'town.  I'm layin' low…

The strawberries came in this week so I must make biscuits and fix a custard sauce. Else I find myself sleeping in the garage and eating from a hub cap.

since I am currently ovenless, I was gifted a bread machine!

I have sourdough starter. Do I need to add yeast to the bread recipe as well or can I just use the starter for yeast? I was going to make the grandmother bread machine recipe but was unsure if I could sub the starter I have for the yeast or not.

happy-flowerAfter reading about the yummy orange rolls on Murphala blog this morning, I am in the mood for something "orangey" so I decided to bake a bundt cake using orange juice and zest, with an orange zest glaze--that should do it! (Will make those rolls very soon) Thank you April!

I don't know about the sourdough starter Littlebird, but I feel your pain with the lack of oven.  Great to have that bread machine, and you're going to have such a wealth of ideas and possibilities for alternative baking options after this.  I'm not going to try to tell you it's any kind of blessing or anything nearly that annoying, but you sure are handling it with grace under pressure!

Someone said something about using one of those big roasters, and I know people have used those to bake bread, pies and small cakes etc in the past (you put something in to raise up the baking pan from the bottom), not to mention of course roasting turkeys, roasts and all sorts of other main dishes. They give a much higher and drier heat than a crock pot and really might be worth some research.  I've seen them on sale for under $50 though perhaps someone you know or to whom you are related has one in their basement that they rarely use!  snuggle

Littlebird, do you have a gas grill?   If so, it can be used like an oven.

I made "Old Fashioned Biscuit Bread" today.  It turned out great!  Tastes like a biscuit but looks like bread in a cast iron frying pan.  It is supposed to be cooked on top of the stove but I used the oven and it worked fine.  I added chives and cheddar.  It has a wonderful crust!

Today I am planning on making 6 loaves of banana bread.  Plenty of frozen bananas to use up.  Really need to go to the outside freezer and see what I need to use up in fruit.  I am wanting some scones and muffins too.  Will see what I have time for.  Since I am still bottle feeding 6 goats, and have chicks hatching and dying in the incubator to deal with.  Plus two young turkeys who demand that you pay attention to them too.  LOL  Oh, and the little one doesn't have PreK today either.

Hugs,

Bambi  whip

No gas grill. No oven till we start renovating the kitchen.

Was gifted with a bread machine yesterday and was super excited to start baking again since I had been borrowing ovens lol… then you have to give the nice owner of the oven a loaf and then you get a loaf and you have to give a loaf to xyz nice person.

Anyway~ made cinnamon raisin bread since that's what my boyfriend had wanted and it turned out great. Superb crust and nice dense loaf. Of course it was super yummy right out of the bread machine. Half a loaf is already gone. Well for the $3 of flour I can make 4 loaves per bag of flour. $4 for whole wheat flour, but still $1 per loaf, pretty sweet savings!

I am now making a herb bread in it with parmesan cheese, parsley, fresh basil, onion, garlic and tarragon so we will see how that one turns out, but I am sure it will be great! Now I am ready to experiment with different flours and whole grains and seeds!!

Murphala, the strata is basically a version of Suzanne's Ultimate Breakfast Casserole:  bread, cheese, eggs, milk, and meat (Suzanne uses bacon, I use turkey sausage).  I also added some sauteed onion, green pepper, and mushrooms.  The cyclists turned out to not be very hungry, so I've got a bunch left over, and I think I'll put it on flour tortillas and have it as breakfast burritos through the week.

I had to Google the Little 500 and it sounds like quite a party!  I hope it was a fun weekend for you and not too crazy!

Herb Parmesan bread turned out great and smelled heavenly. Going to take it to my parents tomorrow.

Now making rhubarb spice bread for my boyfriend's dad with some of his fresh rhubarb that is his pride and joy.

Yummmm!
