I just baked a chocolate chip cookie in a cup. Great for killing off a sweets craving.

I don't think I have seen that recipe…is it for the microwave? I would like to have that recipe …please.

I cut down on the regular sugar and use more brown sugar. It still comes out a bit cake like, but it's good in a pinch. The also have peanut butter and sugar cookie recipes I believe.

Murphala, the strata is basically a version of Suzanne's Ultimate Breakfast Casserole:  bread, cheese, eggs, milk, and meat (Suzanne uses bacon, I use turkey sausage).  I also added some sauteed onion, green pepper, and mushrooms.  The cyclists turned out to not be very hungry, so I've got a bunch left over, and I think I'll put it on flour tortillas and have it as breakfast burritos through the week.

I had to Google the Little 500 and it sounds like quite a party!  I hope it was a fun weekend for you and not too crazy!

Thanks STH, that sounds great…I'll look for that recipe as a guide.  As for Little 500, sane adults tend to leave town for that. surprised

I have to bake my doggie biscuits tomorrow.  Ran out of steam tonight!

I am not baking anything this week because I joined those of you without an oven but I am without the rest of the stove too.  We had to unhook it & move it out to lay tile.  It should be back in place by the end of the week.  Needs a good cleaning before it goes back in place. Yuck!!!

Hello mamajhk—-if you have a crock pot--get it out! On the web are numerous recipes that can be used for baking using the crock pot. How nice you are getting a new floor.

Yay another convert to 'the ovenless'

I made choco chip cookies in my toaster oven this morning. They turned out pretty well. I could fit 8 in there without them touching!

Was going to make jam but couldnt find any pectin in the cupboard so will have to wait till I go to the store.

Thinking about making a cheese bread in the bread machine.

Made sourdough from starter in the bread machine yesterday and it rose up, up and away. I don't think it needed extra yeast like the bread machine directions claimed. It made a 2lb loaf that is about 10 inches high! We made XL PBJ's for dinner, lol!

happy-flowerHello Littlebird, I have been following the 'ovenless' cooking that you and the other members have posted--WELL DONE! It gives great ideas to those that cook for one or 2 and those that choose not to use thier big oven during the hot summer months. Over the many years we have been married I think I have been gifted every small appliance made, and most of them are away in the basement, but it is amazing the things you can prepare with out a stove. About 25 years ago we had a nieghbor that had not had a working stove for 4 years and she managed well with her small appliances, we just dont use our imaginations at times. I even baked biscuits in my dutch oven once and they were very good.

          Keep up the good work.

Found a recipe on the plain chicken blog for pecan squares. They are outragous!! Posted the recipe on FBR. Less than 30 min. from beginning to pulling them out of the oven. That's my kinda recipe yes waiting for them to cool was the killer.

Joell, you are a very very nice neighbor!!!  There's a nice little farm for sale down the road from me wink

Yep. It is amazing what small appliances can do. My Kitchenaid mixer is packed away and so I made fresh whipped cream in the blender! Haha. I was afraid I was going to make butter with how fast the blender whips it, but after about 3 mins of on and off blending I had whipped cream with nice peaks! Added a hint of vanilla and it was awesome on the strawberry shortcakes I made.

Jo, fresh strawberry pie! Mmmmm Now I wish I had an oven!!! I have 2Q fresh sliced strawberries in the fridge!

Baking~ Making another sourdough bread with my super starter (it bubbleth over) and NOT adding extra yeast like the bread machine instructions say. Hopefully it will stay IN the bread machine this time. (Last loaf was supposed to be a 1.5 lb loaf but ended up being a 2lb behemoth!)

Joell IS a very nice neighbor, even long distance! :-)  I am checking this afternoon to see if I have enough strawberries to pick for a strawberry pie…never had one! Strawberry-rhubarb, yes.  Just strawberry…not so much.  Going to go find those pecan squares now!

Finally made pie in a jar after seeing it all over the internet. It was delicious. I'll definitely do it again. Now, I'm thinking cheesecake in a jar would be great, too.

I (sorta) have a farm in Africa.

Post didn't work the first time, so trying again …..

Have a Chicken Pie in the oven right now for our supper … hubby helps me with the homemade crust as I have problems with my joints / hands … he's a great "crust helper" as well as a great "biscuit helper"  heart  !!!  Thanks, darlin' …..
