Joell, that's so funny! I JUST NOW threw butter and sugar in for oatmeal raisin. And I don't have enough chocolate chips to make a batch of cookies so I'm just eating them, sans the fattening cookie coating. Who needs all those extra cookie calories anyway? Right?Hi April--I agree, I put so many chocolate chips in my cookies, the dough just keep them together, so omit dough and enjoy!!
GOOD THINKING!!

OfflineI'm making Suzanne's Strawberries and Cream Coffee Cake (after explaining to my honey that, no, it wouldn't have coffee in it, but, yes, it would still be good!) and it's cooling now. I'm wondering, though if I need to let it cool before I put the glaze on it? Has anybody made this (or her fig coffee cake)?

Baking bread in the machine, I have only used the dough cycle, never did the complete bread baking process, I need a loaf of bread but did want to turn on the oven--hope it turns out well.
Rosina--good for you!! I bet your family is happy with all of the goodies you are making as well.

OfflineHubby informed me this morning that, when a dry spell, whether this evening or whenever, he has to pick some strawberries! (I think I'm surprised that they're ripe already! I cannot eat strawberries, so the patch in our garden is all his!) So, he went off to work, and I got movin' making some SHORTCAKE for him … it's in the oven now.

OfflineI made Suzanne's strawberries and cream coffee cake again yesterday, but this time I used peach conserve (BBB recipe that I got from here) as the fruit in the middle, homemade Greek yogurt, and leftover crushed pineapple (from making the conserve) in the dough. I should have reduced the liquid a bit, but it tasted great. I also made Suzanne's pepperoni, ricotta, and mozzarella rolls with more of the Greek yogurt and had those for dinner with some leftover pizza sauce. (FYI, I made both with 1/2 all-purpose flour and 1/2 whole wheat flour for extra nutrition--worked fine.)
Thanks, Suzanne, for all the great recipes! Needless to say, I use them a lot!

OfflineGood morning! I've finally torn myself away from other stuff and forced myself to get back in the kitchen. This households needs bread.
I also have 10 lbs of peaches that need to be processed. And whatever doesn't end up as jam, gets to be a pie or cobbler. And those pepperoni rolls STH mentions…man. Gotta have some today!
Everyone have a wonderful day!
I've missed you!

OfflinePeach cobbler tip!! Instead of your usual topping, try crumbling up some snickerdoodle cookies and bake as usual. I did this in a canning jar (for a personal sized tester, don'tcha know) and added a pat of butter on top before baking. So tasty! And they were stale, leftover bakery cookies, not homemade.
That was a few days ago. Today, I've mixed up some no knead ciabatta bread. Will bake it tomorrow afternoon.

That sounds so good! Thanks mamajoseph (didn't get made yesterday, but it will for sure today!) Got lots of bread baked though, and froze two unbaked loaves for later.![]()

OfflineMade dump bread, that is look in freezer or cabinets for things to throw in and have at it. I threw in one sourdough starter that I had just divided into quarters, looked in the freezer and found some freeze dried raspberries, blackberries and blueberries… dumped them in too. Added some bread flour, sugar and 1 tsp yeast..
Put it on basic bread and let the machine do its thing.
Turned out a lovely purple loaf (all the blackberries melted in) strewn with raspberries and blueberry chunks. Perfect with some butter and strawberry jam!
