Thank you for the suggestion, brookdale! I have not explored the "Just Recipes" forum yet. Does it require moderators for a submission, as well?

Don't think you need a moderator, just submit like on any of the other forums.

You can also get there by clicking on the "Community Cookbook" pic at the right of this page and choosing a topic.---------------------------

Good luck!

Remember, if it rains on your picnic it's also raining on your garden!

Let the Thanksgiving Dinner preparations begin. I am sure there will be some baking involved.  But first I need to get my eyes opened and focused.

Our youngest Son call Wednesday night and told us he would arrive this morning. I was out of bed at 3:15 AM and started pepperoni rolls, I made 64 rolls. The one I make is the traditional roll, they look like a small loaf of bread with pepperoni baked inside. Pepperoni rolls are one of my Son's favorite thing, the other being brownies with walnuts and chocolate chips. I made both for him, we were so happy to see him again. The first thing he did after the hugging was to eat a couple rolls. Tomorrow is his birthday and we had planned to overnight him a container of rolls, this was much better, now I can fuss over him for a while. I miss that.

Not today.  Made beer bread in the breadmaker on Sun. to which I added a partial packet of ranch dressing mix that needed to be gone from the cabinet.  Added just a little extra sumthin'.

Hi mamajhk, beer read with ranch dressing, that sounds interesting, would you tell us more? I have to use a bread machine to make dough, I can't do the kneading.

Really wish I could but actually it was a random recipe (not sure which cooking website) I found online that used about 9 oz of beer (had that I left over from beer batter that I made for beer battered fish).  I just thought that it might be interesting to add the ranch dressing mix to it.  The house sure smelled good when we got home from bowling Sun. night.  I really could have made a meal on the bread alone.

Just baked pumpkin chocolate chip muffins to take to a memorial service luncheon tomorrow, blueberry muffins will be next. I thought muffins would be a nice addition to all the finger rolls and sweets.

Today I hope to bake bread, a raisin cake and make a couple batches of cookie dough to bake tomorrow. I have cut way back on the cookie baking this year. I need to make fudge yet as well. I know Christmas comes on the same date every year and every year I plan to have everything done well in advance, it just seems to sneak up on me. One year I did have all of my cookie dough ready for baking and in the fridge, 7 different kinds, I was so proud of my self, then the blizzard hit, we had no power for 8 days, right through Christmas, we had an electric stove at the time, and only a portable generator that kept the furnace and a few lights going, I lost all of my cookie dough,  I had it outside in a cooler but was afraid to use it, no worries this year, it will be warm enough to cook out side on the grill on Christmas day---not a fan.no

Today I am baking the cookies I mixed yesterday. I made a triple batch batch of chocolate chip and a triple batch of peanut butter cookies. The peanut butter cookies will be divided three ways, some peanut blossoms using the kisses, some will be made with a Reese's mini instead of a kiss and the remainder will be plain. I always use the extra chunky peanut butter, because that is what we prefer. Several years back when I went to do the blossoms, all I had in the house was the extra-crunchy,and that is what I used, everyone like it, so it remains the same. I am going to try to do another batch of fudge if I have time today, I also have to  mix a meatloaf to take into my Son's house tomorrow, I will make 2 casseroles when I am there and put up a small tree. Please Santa, find him a wife! I am getting too old for this.wink

I have not been enamored with cooking and baking for awhile. My back problems make standing very long a difficult thing. But today, for some crazy reason, I was in the mood to play in the kitchen. I have 2 apple cakes cooling on the counter. Red beans and rice simmering on the stove, and meat broth simmering in the crockpot made from saved chicken/ham/turkey bones saved over several months. Won't have to cook or bake again for a bit. Now it is time to sit for a spell and start that new novel.

I made French bread for the first time.  I used the breadmaker to mix it and now it is baking in the oven.  It wasn't as hard as thought it would be.

Hi Mary, how did your bread do? A couple years ago I made Italian bread, it was much more simple than I had expected, and it turn out very nice. I also wanted to ask you, I saw on the news this evening about earthquakes in your area, were you affected at all?

The bread was okay but I felt the crust was drier and harder than it should have been.  But we ate it.  I will try it again sometime after I do some research.

People here did/do feel the earthquakes that happen in the area.  I was actually asleep when the one(s) happened last night.  There was also one this morning.  There are reports of cracks in walls and such but no collapsed buildings like you see in California quakes.  It is really a weird feeling when it is happening.  Although I have only felt one my hubby has felt a couple.
