This Thanksgiving I was going to do a relaxed Thanksgiving dinner, no fuss no stress. I spent today baking and doing eveything ahead that I could think of, and was so proud of my self knowing everything was on track, that was until I removed the plastic wrapper from the turkey–yes it was pre-frozen, the legs had split away from the breast, I have cooked turkeys for 50 years and never had anything like this happen, I just looked at it in dismay, it was like the legs were too heavy for the rest of the bird. What to do!?? I looked at it and considered many options, none of which would keep the body in tact, so I took a ball of butchers twine and crocheted a fish net sling that went around the back of the bird and came back around to hold the legs together and tied across the breast, looks a bit odd, but it worked!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL!!

OfflineJoJo, thanks for the giggle!!! I know it was not funny to find that your turkey legs had been split! but you SAVED the day!!! The hubby had been talking about deep frying the big bird, BUT I sort of talked him out of it. The bird is outside in an ice chest full of brine and barricaded so the raccoon's won't have Thanksgiving early. ![]()
