OfflineHope this is the right place to post this…how do I dry orange slices without a dehydrator? I assume in a low temp oven for a while. Want to do this for decorations on my tree this year. I tried to find something about this on here but couldn't.

OfflineI have actually done this in my gas oven that has a pilot light. I turned my oven on as low as possible and lay slices on any cake racks or such that I have, and put them in the oven as low as possible. Since my oven is probably a bit too warm even at its lowest, I turned it off for a bit, then back on, then off, then… well you get the idea.

OfflineI have used old metal oven/fridge racks with small spaces hung over a woodstove and did apple slices and salt dough gingerbread men too. The resulting garlands were wonderful! I still have them. Of course, I checked on it a lot because it can get too hot as well…and the oranges might stick to the racks. I think that I put them on waxed paper, but it is so long ago that I really don't remember. I DO remember that it took a lot longer to dry everything sufficiently than the instructions suggested.
Have fun! Your place will smell soooo good.
