I use saved large sized yogurt/sour cream/cottage cheese containers. It was my husband's idea. Good thing that I saved some, they will be few and far between now that the cow is milking.

Duh, why couldn't I have thought of that.  I grip a wide-mouth funnel and the bag.  Hard to do.    A great tip.  Thank you Ross.

I take an large cottage cheese container and cut the bottom off.  Like Ross's suggestion, it works great at keeping the bag standing and open, and keeps the mess off of the zipper portion.

One advantage of the can  is that when it sits tight against the table top  I can fill it with almost no leakage. Thus by choosing the size of the can I am able to measure and fill  with complete ease.

Oh Ross, how does your wife live with such brilliance?laugh

Something so simple…why didn't I think of that? Oh yes, I remember now…my bright light burned out several years ago!

Shut the front door!

I got halfway through preparing my pumpkins for the freezer and was fussing with the mess I'd made all over the freezer bags. Not to mention the waste.  And now you go and post this. Say, were you IN my kitchen last week? Laughing at my feeble attempts to hold the bags open and spoon the  meat in and , with my third hand, scrape the pan???

I did my pumpkin today and used this tip for filling the freezer bags.  What a concept!  No mess on the bag seal at all.  Thanks Ross.  I will be passing this along.
