Has anyone used the grandmother bread dough to make donuts? If so, how did they turn out? I may try to make some this weekend. I will post the results if I have the time to get some made.

I have not used the Grandmother Bread recipe, but I have used a  bread dough to make doughnut holes.  I just added a little more sugar to the dough and drop by spoonful into hot oil.  Roll in cinnamon and sugar.  Yum!

I came across this post and thought I would share my experiment for today.. I used the frozen bread dough from the store and made donuts!  No frills, just simple and GOOD!  Not too sweet, the pwdr. sugar and water glaze makes them perfect. Cinnamon sugar for a few.eating

When camping, I've made donut holes using those refrig. biscuits. Cut in fourths and just drop into hot oil and fry till done, then roll in sugar or cinnamon/sugar. They sure taste good around the campfire!

Remember, if it rains on your picnic it's also raining on your garden!

My husband's grandmother used to make doughnuts from  canned biscuits for the children she had in daycare. Years later (after the kids were adults) they would talk about how she made homemade doughnuts and let them eat them warm. Something so simple made good memories.
