The gardening season is coming to an end except for some of the hardy things like collards and kale and a very few things. We haven't and won't get a hard freeze for a while yet but the frosts are taking their toll on the tender vegetables.. My fall tomatoes got a late start because we had a horribly hot (miserably hot and dry) and I ended up with tomatoes to eat but none to can. Thankfully I had a bountiful spring harvest. The vines, however, are loaded with green tomatoes. I have always had a lot of success in ripening my green tomatoes so today I picked the green tom's. There was a lot to pick and some of the tomato's were small and I decided to use them to make chow chow (relish) I have two huge pots on the stove that are full of all the ingredients ….I made one pot spicy with hot peppers and one sweeter for things like hot dogs etc…It was a profitable afternoon and I enjoyed making the relish.

Yum! I don't think I've ever even heard of chow chow before. But now I want some.
