Anyone else have a week where anything you touch in the kitchen turns into a mess of epic proportions?  I have no idea what went wrong this week, but the number off inedible meals is staggering!  Somebody please take away my cooking utensils before I completely ruin my reputation or go broke from ordering take out!!!

One of THOSE weeks, huh?   laugh

Last week-end I had to hide my knives from myself…it just wasn't worth the risk of injury.  I was home alone and quite off center…   (Worse than usual  wink )

tsmith, don't feel alone my hubby always tells me he can tell when the food I make is made with love,  and he knows when I am in a hurry or stressed nothing tastes good!  I have been working so much that I have not had the time to make a decent meal around here and he is a little bit cranky about this, last night I put some frozen pulled pork we had bought from Sam's club in the crockpot and went off to work, son number one told me this morning, hubby was not very happy! but the kids ate it!   I can't wait until our Shave Ice season is over and I can get back to the kitchen.  I had a mishap last week with the yogurt I made in the crockpot, it was runny, so I just put some jam in it and drank it!  I think I have been having those days all summer long. yes

I have had company for two weekends in a row and things have turned out well.  Usually when I want things special; they are not!

My bad thing was yesterday.  I had just cleaned up the kitchen and mopped the floor and then spilled a full cup of oil on the floor near the stove………what a clean up mess that was!

Now I am wary……..what lies ahead.

Glenda, Don't you know that there is a law about clean kitchen floors?french  I have the same issue.  I am always spilling/dropping etc. just after I clean the floor.

Oh man, am I ever glad to hear that this kind of stuff doesn't only happen to me!!!

Yep, the ol' Murphy's Law goes into high gear some days……I just wish I had some notice!  Then, I would just make grilled cheese sandwiches!!

Geez, if I put the spoon down and stepped away from the kitchen, there's a few family members that would starve around here. Or we'd be living on canned pork 'n beans, my DH's favorite camping fare.  Something I can only tolerate when I'm really tired when frankly, my dear, I don't give a … yeah, precisely.

I'd must agree that when the main cook is torn in multiple directions, the ability to multi-task dissolves into horribly scattered.  Fractured focus sets up interesting mistakes ….. cayenne pepper instead of paprika (actually tasty but everybody cried), baking soda instead of cornstarch (completely inedible and LABEL those  censored  jars!).  I'm fortunate in that DH is usually supportive if my bad hair day has shed into the cooking … he's even insisted that on my worst day the food is still quite fine.  Plainly he's forgotten the cornstarch incident but I'm sure as heck NOT reminding him!

Thanks for posting this today! I wasn't even trying to do anything complicated today and everything kept going haywire! Cannot tell you how many times I spilled milk today. Seriously? Am I 6 years old again? I took a loooong break away from the kitchen after the morning's milk disaster to let the mojo wear off. Didn't work. Poured 4 cups of milk for DS and friends and DROPPED one of them on the floor for no reason. Spluh-lash! Milk everywhere. Again. Another long break. Microwaved leftovers for dinner 'cause I was certainly not going to risk cooking. Had to make cheesecake for company arriving tomorrow, but no brainer 'cause I've done that recipe a million times. Do you know what happens when you put too much butter in the graham cracker crust? It drips on the just-cleaned oven floor and pours smoke out like a chimney. I thought the oven was gonna catch fire. But still, I can get a bowl of no knead bread ready. 4 ingredients, too simple. Except I almost used the 1/2 tsp. measure for salt instead of the 1 tsp. Totally weird kitchen day. devil-with-fire

I (sorta) have a farm in Africa.

oh, thank you, thank you, thank you – I thought I was the only one – I have not gotten a meal on the table before 8:30 PM all week – and I certainly started early enough.  It was just the issue of not enough burners because of canning or hubby bringing in baskets of garden produce so there was no room to do anything………..or I have no idea what else – the kitchen has just been a mess and the household chaotic.  No clue about the moon – haven't gotten out of the kitchen!

Here, too, Joyfulnoise, lol.  I have been wondering for the past couple of weeks how many other women have three half bushel baskets, one vegetable basket, all constantly full or ready for refilling, 1 dehydrator, and two canners constantly in the kitchen, as well as late meals, lol.  OH. I forgot, also, zucchini staked in the wine wrack.  I drank the wine first.

i was so bz doing god know what that I failed to notice that the watermelon I brought home had a big gash/bruise. I just kept b**ing about all the fruit flies around. Of course, that was after my *dog* ate a head (not a clove, a head) of garlic and I had to make her up chuck…more to clean…I don't need this…get zucchini into dehydrator, what's with these fruit flies??? It's sort of  but I'm trying to do without the A.C. More fruit flies. O.M.G. I'm making watermelon wine in a shopping bag!!!

We understand…sometimes the words get twisted when one finishes off the wine just to make room for the vegetables! laugh

This is in the kitchen and I did use a crockpot, so I think its ok to post here.  Last night I decided to make some soap,  I added to much stearic acid was supposed to be 1.2 and I added 2oz the whole thing started to rise, I was thinking to myself, I will just stir it down, NOPE, it kept on rising like a volcano, I managed to get the crock out and put it over the sink before the whole MESS went all over the kitchen counters.  I think I will stay away from the crockpot for a while and NO SOAP MAKING FOR ME, of course I did not have my gloves on at the time, and the potholders are full of soap, I think I should just be banned from the kitchen for now.  surprisedsurprised
