No doubt about it!  All I ever use is unbleached flour in all my recipes.

Worked like a charm. Thanks! The Quick Mix is awesome…

Ketchup is, kind of, a smoothie, right… I like to make my own with tomato paste, honey and a little black pepper and salt. I actually made some tonight and added it to my Tofu "Meatloaf" recipe – it was delicious. It also tastes great baked on top of regular meatloaf, too.

laugh  I'm afraid I'm not a huge fan of tofu, except in my smoothies blended with OJ and banana, or else marinated in chili sauce then breaded and fried, which surely negates any healthy aspects it may have started with!

Maybe I have some sort of attraction to smoothies of all sorts though!  happy-feet

Mmmmm.  Smoothies.  Good, especially in the summer.

I put fresh ground whole wheat flour in the quick mix as well.  Makes REALLY yummy biscuits.  1-2 cups of whole wheat of the total is fine.  (I just grind something over a cup of wheat berries, then use whatever that turns out to be plus enough AP flour to make the recipe.)

I use quite a bit of ww pastry flour in just about everything.  60/40 ww pastry vs. unbleached flour in quick mixes.  Works fine without too much wheaty "weight" affecting a white flour recipe.  This is the season I scour for store and manuf. coupons to stack on top of flour on sale for the holiday baking including organic products (2lb bags for $.19!).  I ziploc seal bags of flour to store in the cold garage or freezer (if I have room) till I need them … the stash can last well into spring.  I do use regular WW flour for breads but don't have as much time for bread-baking as do quick breads, biscuits, and, oh yeah, pancakes.  We love oatmeal pancakes made with yogurt and banana.

Tofu isn't happening in my household … my midwestern DH gives me that sad expression that begs the question, "what did I do to deserve this treatment?".  It's enough that I've converted him to eating meatloaf and meatballs containing lean turkey meat.  I might be able to hide tofu in a smoothie if I didn't tell him ….

Seriously, try this recipe for a smoothy.  Your family will never know there's anything "foreign" such as tofu in it.  Good protein and fast start in the morning.

Whenever tofu is mention I have to laugh about the time my daughter made a dip using tofu and didn't tell her mother in law (who thought it was disgusting) that it contained tofu.  Her mil thought it was the best.  She didn't believe it had tofu in it. The rest of us knew about it.  I am not a fan of tofu but the dip was good.

Hmmm, the recipe has definite possibilities, thank you BG.  I'll try it as a lunch smoothie served with a half-sandwich maybe … he can't wrap his mind around a milkshake for breakfast as well as meals are to chewed not drunk from a glass.  He's very good to try something I'm messing with in the kitchen, but if I miss the lackluster response and repeat a suspect recipe, well, did I mention the sad look?  If habit was a rut in the road of life, that dear man would be walking in a trench.

I have to tell you I love the quick mix!! I made a very large batch of baking powder biscuits and made some with some soup.  With the extra dough I cut out and placed on a cookie sheet and froze them. And then put them in freezer bags.  you can take out as many as you want and bake any time.   They taste just a good as the fresh!!

Welcome Deaonna, quick mix is Suzanne's various pre-mixed recipes to have on hand, just mix ahead and store in a zip lock bag so it's ready whenever you need it.  Here's a link
