We received the cream separator several weeks ago, but until the end of last week we hadn't had a chance to use it.  At first it was confusing in how to put it together.  It came from the Ukraine with a cd-rom of English instructions, but it was still hard to read and understand.  Thankfully there's such a thing now-a-days called UTube!  laugh  I googled and found a video of someone putting it together.  Then it became easy!  Ds and I put it together.  I thought about just letting him do it, but then I'd be searching for the video when he's elsewhere. lol  We got it together and then realized we needed light engine oil, like for a sewing machine.  This took me over a week to get. We just don't go to town that often and the first place only had half of what we needed!  Finally this Saturday we were ready to give it a try.  I couldn't bolt it down anywhere because the only place possible right now is the kitchen table.  That is not going to happen.  Well, ds is a teenage boy so he has the strength to hold it still and turn the crank!  I poured the milk in. happy-flower I had such a hard job.  Within minutes we had two bowls.  One of cream and one of milk.  I poured the milk into a jug and put it in the freezer.  The cream was put into a jar and it never seemed to separate further.  We used the cream in a sauce for fettuccine yesterday.  Last night we pulled the frozen milk out to thaw.  NO FLOATIES!!!!!  Yay!!  I have to admit, it's weird to pour a glass of such thin milk. laugh

So from now on, I'll use the cream separator.  Well, as long as ds is here to do the heavy work.  haha  It is easy to clean.  Best of all, I'll have milk during Bessie's dry time that everyone is willing to drink!
