Uses for sugar cookie dough

I once used sugar cookie dough for quiche. I was in a hurry, distracted, and I grabbed the wrong freezer bag full. It was awful, but my husband liked it.

One day I wanted tarts, but didn't have what I needed to make pastry. I used cookie dough instead (on purpose this time). It made the most wonderful tarts, and I will use it again. You couldn't tell by looking at them what I had used, and it added a really nice flavor to them.

Oooh, I love the idea of using sugar cookie dough for other desserts!  (I'm not sure about quiche, LOL.)

Clover made me do it.

The Orange Nut Sugar Cookie Squares posted under Recipes is another use for sugar cookie dough.

I've had it in one of those fruit 'pizzas' with the cookie dough crust, cream cheesey 'filling' and topped with fresh sliced fruits glazed with melted jelly! No, I don't have a recipe but there are many versions online lol!.

My son works in a bakery, and they use the 'day old' cookies for cheesecake crusts, not dough, but crushed baked cookies.

Wouldn't a slice of cheesecake topped with strawberries be good right now?

Oh, my, yes, Jeannie!  Great with fresh strawberries, or strawberry jam, or some of that strawberry syrup!  Oh, my!!

(Don't tell anyone, but I may have to go raid Suzanne's pantry!  Oh, wait – I don't know how to find her house.  Never mind…  Cool)

Or we could just make our own when the strawberries come in season.

Guess that is what we will have to do, Jeannie!  Have never done anything with strawberries except eat them, but learning is a life long process.

That would be so good!  I'm actually planning to make a cheesecake soon–I'm gonna make some more cream cheese first–and I'm going to drizzle my strawberry syrup on top.  I picked up a box of vanilla wafers to crush for the crust instead of graham crackers.  Just sounded good to me.  I was tempted to get some Oreos to crush (minus the filling–just taking the cookies apart and crushing the cookies).  I may try that next.

This topic is making me think about shortbread cookie dough, too.

And really, any kind of cookie dough!  The possibilities are endless…..

Remember the pumpkin cheesecake recipe using crumbled shortbread cookies?  Sounds really easy and wonderful.
