I know this is a busy time for everyone….but we need blog posts for Farm Bell!

Anyone making some cookies this weekend?  Or an easy last minute something? Are you getting together with others to have a Cookie Palooza? (wink I know a couple of you are at least)

Or how about what you're planning to cook for Christmas Dinner?

Do you decorate your kitchen for Christmas?

Do you have a kitchen Christmas tree?

If you're intimidated, send in words and pictures and we'll take it from there!

If you don't know how to send in a blog post, email us at fbrblog@yahoo.com, we'll help you!

AND this could be yours this month……Le Creuset Honey Pot

CindyP, I was going to wait till after the new year.  I was going to post and ask the question how many of us would like to post and don't know how.  My resolution, usually I don't do resolutions, is to be able to submit a recipe and pictures.  I love CITR and want to be a part of Farm Bell besides commenting.  I do know you have instructions on how to do this.  I am so intimidated.  Saying that, what I need is someone who lives close by who is savvy about this.  Also I don't do facebook and it says to upload your pics there.  I won't do that.  It will be interesting to see if I am one of the few who has this problem.  Will have to tackle this after the holidays.  I have taken note of your two last comments on help.  Thanks you.

Posting pics here on the forum has changed!!!!  http://chickensintheroad.com/f…..ng-photos/

But that's different than submitting a blog post.  It's very easy to submit pics to go with a blog post.  It's all part of the Blog Post Form http://chickensintheroad.com/f…..bmissions/

You can even practice if you want!!!  Just put a note in there…you'll see when you go to that page…and we can email with you until you feel comfortable.

I wish I lived in CA….I would help you :)

I'm with Bev.  I just don't know how to do it.  I am on face book and I don't even really know how to do that or add pictures.  I will look into it over the holiday and maybe hubby can help me.  He is more computer wit then me.

CindyP, I need to do my follow-up post for some of my interesting cheese recipes from my old cheese manual.  We've been so busy…thanks for reminder. I'll try to get it done.

And folks, submitting  a post is easy.  I didn't know how to either but the process is explained well.  My biggest problem was figuring out that I needed to set up a separate login account for Farm Bell.  CindyP will take you by the virtual hand so go for it!!

would-be bloggers: Give yourself a little quiet time, print out the direx and you'll be able to  post photos before you know it. The new rules are even easier than before, no need for Facebook. . . really, once you get it, it's a great feeling of accomplishment.

Seriously…

Help, Cindy!  I tried the new directions and STILL can't get a picture on here!  When I click on browse I can't even get to the correct drive to select the files.  Then, when I try to X out to return to the previous screen I can't close it and end up having to shut down Internet Explorer.

Thanks!

Landodixy, for posting pics to the forum?  or for uploading a blog post on FBR?

Thank you all!  We need you.  The community blog on Farm Bell Recipes is all about sharing and showcasing YOUR ideas, and you all have so many ideas and special skills and techniques and memories.  I love reading your posts.  Without you, there is no community!  And what I love about Farm Bell Recipes, and am so proud of, is that it is truly a community site and a community blog.  There are no paid bloggers here, no professional chefs.  (Ugh!)  This is about real people–and real people are the best! That's you!  If you're reading this and think you "aren't good enough" please don't think that way.  You ARE.  Real people is what we want!!!  WE are real people!!!  We don't want paid bloggers and professional chefs.  We want real home cooks with real kitchens and real recipes and real ideas.  That is YOU!

We will help you if uploading pics is a problem.  Just let us know. Whatever is going on in your holiday kitchen today, take a picture and tell us!  We want to know what YOU are doing–real people!

laugh  So what does a professional chef remember from when they were growing up?  Or, what does a professional chef cook for their family when they get home from their fancy kitchen?  Or else what dishes are FUN for them to cook instead of a chore?  What is a professional chef's family's favorite dish? chef  You're still a real person to us!

I had to LOL, It was the word ugh.  I knew what Suzanne meant,  but I knew that there had to be quite a few professional chefs that are part of CITR!   Not paid, though.  I think everyone has something to teach all of us.  We love you all and I am sure Suzanne does too.

The only difference between an amateur and a professional is the professional gets paid for what the amateur does for love. I am an amateur chef and I consult with professionals.

I believe that I fall into that category of bloggers called "wannabes"… maybe this will be what it takes to get me going.

I don't live on a farm, I have MS, but I suppose you start where you are.

So baking… I have been baking. It seems that the demand this year has been hor derves (or however you spell that) and I find that we have a winner. I have been making a tart from a sugar cookie recipe, instead of rolling it out to make a cut out cookie you cut it a bit bigger than you need and drape it over the back of a muffin tin. Then fill it with a bit of jam and cheesecake filling. I cheated and used an instant filling.

No pictures were taken, but I might need to make a batch just to do that.

I have been making these since my kids were little but can't recall who taught me to do it.happy-flower

okeedokee…

When I put the Christmas baskets together this week…jerky in sealed jars,  a sewing kit in a mason jar,  yummy smelling sugar scrub cubes,  pitiful,  hilarious bath fizzy cupcakes (  so lame )  the wonderful homemade  powd. laundry soap, a lip balm in a pot,  some glycerin soaps and hopefully a cured cp bar,  I will post.  My  lovely girl from NY is coming home and promised to help w the pics…

so Cindy,  I'll try a PM too…but I cannot remember how we put together that thick lotion we made this summer…I still have mine,  but I have to hide it from the men.  I've tried a few combos,  but none are whipping up so light,  so fluffy,  and so silky… when I melt solid shea,  it seems a teensy bit grainy in a final product…what am I doing?

and…how much FO  do you use per ?  AAAh,  thank you mdear…I finally used my chix in the road discount at Brambleberry,  and the FOs are lovely……I cannot keep myself from opening the  the pink peppermint,  hot cocoa and vanilla scrubby cubes…

   laur  in st. Louis.

I will try to post thurs.

Laur,

I read today that when shea is heated too long or too high, it can get grainy.  Maybe that's the problem.
