Offlinelol My husband has been loving letting others know what wonderful things he brings in his lunch to work each day.
He has done this through a few jobs now. He will talk about something being so good and have his other co-workers salivating and wishing they could have some, then he takes it out of his box. He brings a lot of food and eats slowly too, so the poor people have to sit and suffer a while.
He enjoys that. He isn't always cruel, though, he has shared. I don't know if this is actually nice/cruel though, come to think of it. They usually say after tasting how wonderful the (homemade) item is. I am sure that often they wish I would make extra. One day I did. On occasion, I will throw in a little something extra for them so that they can have a bit more.
They have now tasted fresh mozzarella, cheddar (finally took the plunge), eyed carrot cake with cream cheese icing, and pie with cream, not to mention the real meals that he takes each day instead of pizza pops and sandwiches. The same meal is rarely repeated the next day. He talked about the something one day that I made, and someone said, "Yeah, and I bet she makes cheese too!" He said, "Yes, she does!" He had backup from another co-worker who said…"It was the best cheese I have ever tasted!"
It is nice to know that he is proud of my cooking and loves to show it off to others. I am not sure what I'll make for them. I haven't decided yet. Maybe a sampling of a few things?
He says that my cinnamon buns are better than his mom's. Now, isn't that a great compliment? I make a cream/brown sugar sauce that they bake in, and make them mini so they are smothered in the goodness. Maybe I should make some. Ah, I don't know if he'd share that, though.
Okay, your turn…

OfflineCookies! There's also lasagna (DH's favorite), soups, breads (whole grain and sweet), quick breads, casseroles, but the ones that net the hoo-rahs with family and friends are the cookies.
When our only child was in grade school, I volunteered to do art docent presentations (pictures and art project) each month from first grade through sixth. That last year was the hardest to keep their wandering attention and a cookie reward was my "bribe" to keep them focused through the project. I knew I had 'em after each first day when I passed around the pan during cleanup when new students passed on taking a cookie … which promptly corrected when the whispered hissing began with my daughter's friends: "Hey! you don't pass up her cookies! Those are good! ". Anytime after that if a student gave me a hard time (usually one of the boys), I'd smile and say to the room, "Cookies, or NO cookies?" … the lethal glares from his peers would cow him fast. Um, you gotta love sweet bribery. The hot favorites over the school years were pumpkin bars and gingerbread cookies (complete with frosting bags and sprinkles). My daughter's favorite was the gingerbread … once that tradtion was started for her classmates there was no escape each December as she talked it up somethin' ferocious!

OfflineLast week I got a bit snowed under so I bought a loaf of bread while at the grocery store, the first time in a year or so. DH has been working with an old friend doing some remodeling work for his son and they take it in turns to provide lunch. After biting into his sandwich old friend asked anxiously is J sick I know she didn't make this stuff. I guess people do notice.

OfflineMustard greens, Cuban sandwiches, coleslaw, tacos (lots of lime and cumin!), nappa cabbage salad, yeast rolls, and fried chicken! My husband would eat just the greens every night for dinner if I would make them. I am working on my mother in law's noodles (like chicken and noodles with just broth). They are everyone's favorite thing and someone else needs to know how to do it right! I mean, what if she had an accident and lost her memory!?! Who is gonna make the noodles?!?!

Offlinebanana bread, mustard chicken, mashed potatoes, vegetable filo pie, beef stroganoff, any of the breads I make, mac and cheese, "wonderful salsa", dill pickles…
I have to say, it almost does my heart in when I overhear my daughter full of pride telling someone who hasn't eaten over yet, oh yeah, my mom makes everything, all our bread, the pickles, the mustard, everything, healthy, ethical, organic, so you are going to love this. It is nice to know all the work I love to do is appreciated.
My son loves chocolate cake. My daugther loves the grandma bread, especially when its just out of the oven. Both love the home made pizza.
My kids nanny love any sweet thing I bake, even the ones that come out badly, as long as they are sweet, she loves them.
My sister loves the muffins and buns/rolls and I had to teach her how to be able to make some, which she does oftenly and other people have commented on how really good her muffins and rolls are.
A lot of other people – workmates & relatives have said nice things about the cakes and one of my workmates made me promise to make him grandmabread as a xmass present, which I did last xmass, that put me in trouble coz every one now wants some grandma bread made for them.

OfflineGood topic LK! My hubby Loves to go to lunch and take out his special lunches too. I actually get the guys from his work asking him if I'll be sending something soon because they miss the treats LOL
He tells everyone about my cooking and I try to make so many different things that he is always eating something new and exciting. He really brags up my yogurt, cheesecake, pies, stretch patties (think meatloaf shaped into a patty, rolled in crushed cracker crumbs and pan fried. We either serve them with mushroom gravy or as a hamburger type sandwich), sugar cookies are another big one. They're an old recipe and have a fluffy icing that's really great.
I also really enjoy it when my kids come home from staying at their grandparents house and tell me that my food is way better than Nana's :) Evil I know, but makes me pleased that they enjoy my homemade versions more than the packaged, processed food that my parents push towards them!

OfflineI have another one…I made homemade caramels, for the first time. They turned out well initially, but went sugary a few days later. Anyway, he brought some to work while they were still good (very much on purpose). He said that the guys would only get ONE each. lol I guess after he gave some to them and left for a bit, one of the young guys went searching ot see where he might have more. That young guy is totally into junk food and candies and was fascinated with the flavor of caramel made with REAL butter, REAL cream, and Madagascar bourbon vanilla. lol Nothing is better than homemade.
Just had to brag a bit.

OfflineThe first and formost asked for item in my granola bars. When the kids went to school I had standing orders from my kids friends for them b/c they were sooo much taster than the snacks that they could buy from the school. Then family picnics/dinners call for my pickled eggs and my MIL's baked beans.

Offlinemy family always loves anything i make from scratch…tortillas, foccacia bread, etc. Then i discovered Grandmother Bread. Now my husband and kids really brag. THEN i discovered kellyb's no knead bread. My honey said, why? we love the other bread! don't change! Now, he loves the no knead bread with added cheese and chopped jalapenos. I always figure that as long as i can bake bread and make gravy, we will be set for hard times. ![]()

Offlinefirst post—I feel like a virgin! My hubby loves any casserole! Have several from the late 1960's that we still make. I guess thats Comfort food. On birthdays we'd always let the kids pick out their fav. meal–it wou;ld usually be hamburgers or steak or fried chicken. My husbands was always Tuna Casserole. Ugh–tastes like wallpaper paste to me. And heaven forbid I try to doctor it up with onions or peas……nope, just noodles, tuna and crm of mushroom soup with potato chips on top!
