We are having a roast done in the slow cooker with carrots and potatoes.  I opened a can of French Onion soup instead of beef consomme so we'll see how that works out.  Smells good though.

I hope to make some homemade vegetable soup and sour cream cornbread.  Perfect for a cool fall night!

Leftovers! We have potato cheese soup, taco stuff for nachos, chicken casserole, stuffed cabbage and nappa cabbage salad in there. If they think I'm cooking again tonight, they're crazy.

Tonight we are having soup. I am making a pot of beef vegetable soup and baking a couple loaves of bread. When I was at the store in the village a couple weeks ago I asked the meat man if they had any soup bones---blank stare.  Remember when you could go to the meat dept. and for hardly nothing and buy some nice soup bones? Everything seems to be "boneless" these days.

When looking through the freezer, I found a thick round steak. A short time back Mamajhk posted how she had used a can of french onion soup when cooking a roast. I thawed the steak, cut it into serving size pieces, browned it in a bit of butter, put it into the slow cooker, added the soup along with the water I used to deglaze the frying pan, and added a couple of bay leaves. We will have mashed potatoes and peas as sides. She was right, the house smell wonderful.

I am going to flour some boneless pork chops and fry them, and with those have peas and couscous. It's a great fast dinner for after work!

Since it is so cold here today, only in the 20's-- I decided to make a pot of vegetable soup for dinner and will make a skillet cornbread.

Not really sure at this point.  Have a roast that I bought on sale the other day that I really should cook.

I have been in a mood for something spicy, so tonight we are having nachos with chili, cheese and jalapeno peppers--alka seltzer for dessert.

I sometimes like to go back and retry old recipes so tonight we had Salisbury Steak which is cooked in the microwave.  Apparently it was one of my mother's because it is in her handwriting and apparently her daughter doesn't read directions too wellshame-on-you because they didn't come out just right (eatable but not terrific).  Not sure if I want to try this one again or not.  It makes 6 patties so I have leftovers and will be turning some of them into something else.
