Sonia, the best part of that meal, besides the company, is the leftovers….

tonight I'm having chicken "stew" which to me means the leftover gravy, chicken and veg with egg noodles mixed in…..truly yum.

And tomorrow night…the third meal, chicken soup with dumplings.

Today, er, yesterday, I put ribs in the crock pot on low for about 5 hours, then finished them off on the grill.  I bbq'd them and they came out so good, falling off the bone.  I will do that again since it was so easy and turned out so well.

Grilled tuna steaks with lemon, creamy pasta with garden peas, green salad and zucchini bread from last years zucchine which I grated and put in the freezer.

Learn from the mistakes of others.  Trust me…..you can't live long enough to make them all yourself!

tonight we had Chicken Fettucine Alfredo ( with my home canned chicken), green bean casserole and homemade Milk and Honey Bread.  An orange and a freezie pop for dessert.

Where are we going and why are we in a handbasket?

Sirloin tip roast from the freezer beef going in the crockpot with baby carrots and pearl onions and a bit of garlic. Thinking garlic mashed potatoes w/this and rolls. Cool and breezy today so it sounds good.

Not exactly dinner, but the only thing homemade today!  We had a birthday here (not mine), but I've been under the weather so it looked like there would be no cake today.  Got to feeling almost decent around noon, so opted to make a pan of chocolate chip bar cookies, a family favorite.  With walnuts for the birthday boy, since he really likes them.

Got them into the oven without much fanfare (they are soooo easy, and soooo good!), then got the wondering if some ice cream wouldn't be pretty good with them while they were still warm.  Had loaded up the coffee pot for the birthday boy to start when he got up from his nap and got the ice cream maker going, with the cookes cooling on the sideboard.

He was a happy boy when he got a good whiff, and saw what was in the ice cream maker!

OK, so it's not exactly wholesome eating – but you can do this sort of thing occasionally, right?  He left a bit ago to visit one of the nieghbors.  I suggested that he take some cookies with.  His response?  Nope!  He isn't sharing!!  How rude!!!   french

Just a little pot luck at the neighbors!  We had two hams prepared differently, mashed potatoes, English peas, green beans, baked beans, corn, pineapple casserole, pasta salad, deviled eggs, the best store-bought rolls I've ever eaten, strawberry filled cupcakes, and rice crispie treats.  Mostly home grown and home canned goodies.

And all we contributed was the pineapple casserole and the crispie treats!  (And we had to insist to get to bring those!)  Three huge containers of left overs – which we will be eating for several days, of course…

Yum!   chef

It was "what's for breakfast" today. I was in charge of the Sunrise breakfast at church today. The big hit was the Overnight Cinnamon Rolls posted over on Farm Bell by Charley Cooke. We also had eggs, sausage gravy and  biscuits, ham, strawberries, pineapple, cantaloupe, grapes, muffins and doughnuts. You could eat healthy or you could eat …blissfully happy! wink

I'm so glad the cinnamon rolls were a hit! That is by far my most requested recipe. We had them for Easter breakfast too :)
