Tonight was cereal for me – corn chex with soy milk.  We had a huge farmer's kinda breakfast here this morning, and it stuck with me all day.

I played out in the summer kitchen with a Camp Dutch Oven.  We had chicken and rice. Its a lot of fun and amazing how they work. Yummy too.

A day to experiment here, too!  We fired up a new-to-us hibachi kind of grill with hardwood charcoal, then tried some simple burgers.  I've seen this kind of grill on at least one cooking show, but have no idea what it's really called.  We also tried using a large ice cream scoop to portion out the burger patties, and it worked out very well.  (We've never been able to figure out how to make burgers and have them be even close to the same size!)

Served with some hot pepper butter, green tomato relish, cheese and onions with baked beans on the side and we were happy campers!

Oh, that's easy!  It's over at FBR, and also over here in the Community Cookbook.

You might enjoy the whole discussion here: http://chickensintheroad.com/f…..er-butter/

Several of us got a little carried away with it, and still LOVE it.

And the FBR version is here: http://chickensintheroad.com/f…..-butter-2/

Thought Suzanne had done a blog entry on it, but could not find one.  Maybe I'm just remembering all the other chatter about it?

We're having baked pork chops with onion crumbs (recipe on FB), baked potatoes, and fiddleheads.

Anyone else here like fiddleheads? They're not my favorite but DH loves them. We get them from a guy up the road that has a secret place to pick.

Remember, if it rains on your picnic it also rains on your garden!

We had a dinner partly from our garden tonight…salad with lettuce picked yesterday and Buccatini with fresh Green Peas and Prosciutto…..green peas were also picked yesterday. And, best of all…my 13 year old son admitted that fresh green peas are good!!! The pasta recipe was in the April 2011 issue of Cooking Light……it was delicious.

It's DELICIOUS!  I just put some in my chicken salad yesterday for lunch…and in my egg salad (thanks, Pete!) the day before.  It add so much flavor to anything!  Mom uses it in place of anywhere she uses regular mustard…she doesn't buy it anymore.

For everyone who doesn't already know it, that Hot Pepper Butter recipe came to us from Dede.  Seems like I managed to NOT say that in the above post about Dede's brilliant, absolutely wonderful, most versatile of all condiments Hot Pepper Butter!

Pete, it wasn't a problem LOL. It was a recipe first given to me years ago scribbled on a flap of an envelope. I just tweaked a little and keep infecting lots of people with Pepper Butter fever bug-eyed I saw a Ramp Butter recipe online a week or so ago that was almost identical. Didn't bookmark it, dangit LOL.

All I know for sure is that it will have meat of some sort that I will be getting at the store after work. Any suggestions as to what would be a quick meal to make after work for me and the hubby? Something we can eat and then get back out the door and plant tomatoes for my mil. Help.
