Daisy Mae, one of my silkies hatched out some eggs yesterday.  I don't think any of them were hers, but there is one silkie in the batch.  The pics are on my blog, it's so much easier for me to post there.

She's a very proud mama, she hatched out some guineas babies this summer but they died or were killed.  We're watching these babies more carefully.

How adorable!  I've been afraid to have any new chicks this time of year because of the trouble of keeping them warm till they get feathered up.  Do you have them inside?  I kept mine inside in the spring for awhile because it was too cold then, too, but I'm wanting to figure something else out for this spring.  I'm not a fan of having chicks in the house.  Other than the cuteness factor….

Clover made me do it.

The chicken house has electricity so they've got a couple of heat lamps out there.  I don't think you have any silkies………it's hard to convince them not to go broody.

This was sort of a mercy brood.  When Daisy's little keets all died she grieved for so long that I was worried she'd never be herself again, it was really sad.  She's everyone's favorite around here and we wanted her to get another chance before it got really cold.

They're adorable!  I'm so glad she was able to hatch some more!!  Hope she's in a much better mood now!!
