Baby doe was born in the early morning hours. Mom is Nubian/Alpine cross. She is just a yearling, and tried to keep her and her twin separated from the buck..but you know how accidents happen. It is a nice surprise. I was devastated on monday, when I found one of my beloved sheep had passed on.. And it is not by chance that the sheep I lost, also had a black head of hair...Out of pain and heartache comes forth renewed life and joy..

Mom and baby goat are doing great..I made sure the little babe is sucking on mom's teat to get the colostrum..I check on them every hour..cant help myself.

Ohhhh how precious! The bay is soooo cute and I'm so glad baby and mom are doing well.

I am so sorry you lost a sheep!  Do you know what happened to it?

Congrats, it makes you so happy babies on the farm.

Hope everything goes well, and that this little one, soften the pain a bit from loosing your sheep.

It is a cutie...

Thank you all..It is real chilly out today with a big snow/ice storm in forcast for tonight and tomorrow..I gave them plenty of fresh bedding straw, mom has plenty of fresh warm molasses water to drink. I made a little sweater I cut from a sleeve of a sweatshirt. and put it on the baby doe to help keep warm. i keep checking on them by the hour, and both mom and baby are bonding and doing great..

Aww! What a cute baby! Congrats. Sorry about your loss also. That is so sad. That was a really good idea about the sweater. I would have never thought of that.

Oh your new baby is so beautiful as is her Mum. I would be checking in on them every hour if they were mine as well, they are so precious I couldnt resist not looking as much as possible. It is sad that your sheep has gone over Rainbow bridge.

Thank you everyone. I spent an hour out in the barn with mom and baby. I took some pics this morn of baby doe with her sweater I made out of a sweatshirt. She looks warm and cozy in it.. deff. needed it yesterday and today!, the temps dropped, and we had a snow storm w/cold winds blowing at 45-50 mph..http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s78/chicknclick/101_0535.jpg

The chickens snuck in the pen while I was taking pic's..She found them fascinating..
