Hey, everyone, I want to let you know that yesterday morning in the initial panic and confusion of trying to figure out WHAT was going on, one concern was the possibility that a "bad" link had been placed on the forum.  Not intentionally or anything, but sometimes that happens!  I deleted all the links posted on the forum in the past 3 days.  I hated to do that but it was part of the process of figuring out what was happening and eliminating possibilities.  Just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be wondering where your link went.  Feel free to repost if you want to.

There will be a routine software update done on the forum this evening.  If you find the forum in "maintenance mode" –it's just temporary, try back in about 10 minutes.  Thanks!

There was an update to the forum last night.  If anyone is having any problems, please bear with us!  Different browsers are allowing different things to work.  Suzanne is working with her site team to get it fixed!!!!  Sun

We are having a particular issue with Firefox today–there is some conflict in the forum update with that.  I'm working on getting that fixed as quickly as possible, in the meantime, Google Chrome is working fine and I believe IE is working fine for people, so if you have access to another browser other than Firefox, please try that until we get the Firefox issue fixed.  (Soon, I hope!  Sorry about that!)

Update–if you are having trouble with posting, try restarting your browser/clearing your cache.  Things should be working now!

The domain switch from suzannemcminn.com to chickensintheroad.com will take place late tonight (Friday, April 30).  The site will be down for 15 minutes or so.  Just FYI so that if you are online tonight and the site goes down, you know why!  It will be back!

(No need to worry about bookmarks or feeds.  Everything will redirect, so you don't have to do a thing to find your way back here!)

Thanks for bearing with me!

Is it just me, or is the "add a new topic" missing from the Recipes Only forum?

Oh, no. It is just me, isn't it?  My recipes aren't up to snuff. Was it the oatmeal?  Or the adobo and North African casserole were too exotic, weren't they? Too California cuisine?  I can do better, I promise!  Don't ban me!

Oh, um, excuse me… just a little passing insecurity. New kid on the block and all that.  I'm better now.

Just a reminder for everyone that a couple of updates ago the format over in the PM section changed.  Now, instead of the PM opening at the top of the page, it opens at the bottom of the page.  Probably not an issue for those of you with few if any PM's in your mailbox.  But for those of us who forget to clear out the Inbox, or have the font enlarged, it can be hard to find unless you scroll down to the bottom of the page.

We are working on a Homemade Recipe forum (like our old Just Recipe forum).  So if you see some of the homemade recipes (soaps, beauty, etc) dissappearing around the rest of the forums, they're not lost!!  We're just moving them.  Will put up another admin announcement when the new forum is open!

Cindy, couldn't you just post them on Farm Bell in their own category? Or are they already there? Just wondering. I have a hard time finding things on the forums. Sometimes it tells me "no such forum here" or some such message.  Still learning!

Brookdale, computer searches are like trying to fill out government papers. you have to use just the right word to get what you want because in both cases the machine is too dumb to figure it out.

No, we want to keep the Farm Bell Recipes as a food recipe site so the the food recipes are all together.

The Home & Garden Recipe forum is open now.  It's right below the Living the Country Dream forum.  There are tags on the recipes.  If you click one of those tags, ALL of the posts with that tag will come up.  Like categories, so it's another way to look for different types of recipes.

To make this even more categorized, the Home & Garden Recipes have been divided out.

There is a sub-forum below Primitive Crafts & Country Style called Home & Beauty Recipes.

And a sub-forum below The Country Garden for homemade garden recipes.

There are still tags in the recipe forum to make searching easier happy-flower

In case some of us need additional clarification: it is still OK to discuss specific recipes following the home/garden/beauty recipe itself.  The usual rule applies that the conversation should be limited to that particular topic.  Like "Tried this and it is WONDERFUL!"  Or maybe "tried this, then added a bit of (fill in the blank) and it worked better for me."

Those sub-categories look great, Cindy!

We've developed another new sub-forum in the Gardening section!!  Seed Sharing

Do you have an abundance of seeds?  Whether you've collected them yourself or ordered/bought too many, this is a great place to share with your friends online.

There are just a couple rules –

  1. There is NO SELLING ALLOWED, only sharing.
  2. This is an avenue to share your seeds–CITR is not responsible for following up any details or making sure you receive the seeds you've requested.
  3. Please DO  NOT  post your address here in the open, PM the information.

This is also a forum that uses the tags, so you can access the individual categories easier.  As the forum grows with more seeds to share, the tags will be updated.

There will be a major server upgrade on Saturday evening that will go through early Sunday morning.  The site will be down for two to six hours.  I'll be posting about this tomorrow on the blog, but wanted to give a heads up today for our forum members in other time zones to be sure you have a chance to see it and be aware of why the site is offline.
