I hope I qualify – does log cabin living in the woods count??? And I have to put a disclaimer that its part-time for now but hoping to live there full time soon.  My blog is http://www.logcabininmichigan……ogspot.com and documents the construction of our log cabin, wildlife and our activities as we try to become “more handy and self-sufficient people.”

Hello!  I really new here…I'm checking out older posts; I took a look at your blog–my husband and I want to build our own place too! I love your cabin!  Do you still visit the "Chickens"?

Hi!  I recently found your blog and enjoy the stories.  I raise free range ducks and I am a homesteader with chickens, dairy goats, and a 3 season garden.  Check out my life at:

I have a new blog, a very, very new blog, that I started (like last week!) to document the creation of our from-scratch homestead. Did I mention that it's new? Like two posts new?

My blog starts with the adventure of moving our 100 year old farmhouse back from the highway.

http://fincadelaspiedras.blogspot.com

We currently have chickens and guineas and a big vegetable garden.  I found this forum and blog when I was researching how to candle eggs.  I'm looking forward to reading more about farm life.

Wow lots of great blogs. I'll add mine here too. Though I'm not sure it qualifies as a country living blog. It's mainly about my crafting. And I haven't been very good at keeping it upto date. Hopefully I can get back in the habbit of blogging and doing a better job at it.

I do!  My daughter set it up for my birthday last month.  We raise chickens, bees, goats and sheep in the Blue Ridge Mountains.  I sell at the farmer's market every week.  I make cheese and soap and visit Suzanne's blog every morning.  Come check me out some time!  http://www.missingwillowfarm.com

Wow Leila!  Your daughter sure did a nice job, though I didn't dig too deep, it sure looks nice.  How did your vinegar ever turn out by the way?

Also, we've had a lot of interest in using TBHs (Top Bar Hive) to keep bees, I thought maybe you had an opinion or some thoughts on the matter since you keep bees.  Have you ever considered starting one or more of those styles of hives?  I know from what I've read so far that there's less honey for the keeper, more for the bees, still it seems interesting.

Maybe you could hop on over to the "Introduce Yourself" thread too so you can say hi to everyone by telling us more about yourself here on CITR.  Also, you can put a link to your blog by typing the URL in the block on your profile so people can get to the link anytime you post here too!

Nice to see you again and hope to hear more from you here among the rest of us!  chicken  chicken  chicken

Thanks for asking!  When I opened my vinegar crock after the prescribed amount of time, it was moldy.  Ick.  We use the standard 10 frame langstroth hive setup for our bees.  They get the bottom full super of honey for themselves, we get whatever is above it.  I'll take your suggestion and go to the intro page.  Thanks!

KentuckyFarmGirl; I didn't know that soapmaking FB page was yours! I just joined a week ago or so, I thought it would be handy to have on my list for when I finally start making soap. What a small world on the internet!
