Well, I made it through all the intro posts and realized that means I need to make my introduction.  I am Sandra, since there is another Sandra, my user name is skeller.  Reading all your posts was great fun, writing mine is not so much fun as I am terribly shy.  I enjoy crocheting, reading, classical music, Bible study, my adult children, baking, and canning.  I enjoy running. I love the outdoors and animals.   I am a speech language pathologist and work a full time and a part time job and live in the city…hence, no pets right now in my life until I retire, though I do feed the birds.  I have grown to absolutely love Suzanne's blog site and have enjoyed participating in the voting process.

Hello, my name is Jeanette and I have been a reader of CITR since around July, and have commented on several posts but am just now getting around to the forum and trying to familiarize myself to it…

I am from northwest Ga and I live in the country, but not on a farm, however I do have 12 pet chickens, 2 shih-tzus, 2 indoor cats, and 1 porch cat, several "wild" kitties that hang out at the chicken pens that I feed also…. ( they take care of the mice ).  I also feed any other animal that comes along that looks hungry as well.  I have no children of my own so my animals are my "babies"

I am 55 yrs old and my partner, Paul is 65, he has 3 living children and one that was killed in an auto accident, we have several grand children and 2 or 3 great grands as well. He is a semi-retired building contracter and I am a homemaker and animal caretaker.

Before I stopped working I was both a vet technician and dog trainer, at different times, of course.

I am thouroughly enjoying getting to know each and every one of you through your posts, and I was proud to be a part of the first round of voters for Suzanne in the Sam-e contest, the same as I am in this round …..GO SUZANNE GO!!!!!!!!! Happy Feet

Hi everyone, my name's Bob, I've been a blogaholic for 4 years now.

lol.  Laugh  no, just kidding.

My name is Amy, single mom and I live in S Florida with my 9 yr old daughter Izabel, my border collie (Molly) and my cat (Gandalf)

I tried to upload an avatar, but there is no 'button' on my profile page to do that.  Do I have to wait 90 days for approval?  Happy Flower

I've posted to the daily blog for the last few days, but not here in the forum.  So, here I am. Chicken

In the past I've only kept up with one other forum, and due to work, school and home, I don't really have time to do that now either, so I'm feeling a bit guilty for being here.  My other haunt is a dog rescue forum for border collies. So I'm feeling really guilty.  There are so many dogs out there needing rescue right now with the economy.  But I can't take a foster right now with my schedule, so I staaay awaay, or be tempted to take on more than I can handle right now.

So, I'll just rescue Suzanne by voting everyday.  That dosn't require any potty training. Knight

I'm sorry I hadn't introduced myself earlier. I tend to just 'dive right in' posting.  I live in Texas, housewife, married, two Grandsons. Have been reading Suzanne's blog for a while, now. In fact it's 'MUST READ BLOG'.

I love learning new things, and I suppose that's the main reason I am a fan of this blog. There is always something good and positive that I can glean and I always get such a good feeling from reading it. I also live my dream of living on a farm vicariously through Ms. McMinn's writing. I'm just happy to be here and meet other like minded folks.

I am. Just new to this posting-blogging or whatever it is called. Worked for 35+ years in a hospital, home health, and finally in a State hospital for the mentally ill and handicapped. Very rewarding work, but the old body said ENOUGH is ENOUGHStop. So now I am trying so do some things I didn't have time for before. Sounds like some very interesting topics to pour over.

My husband is from the Beckley, W.Va. area so we make it back there at least once a year. Of course the mountains make him very homesick, but I always persuade him to come back to Iowa.

My children are all grown and have families of their own. I am passionate about scrapbooking (my artistic side comes out), but I need to get all my junk-errrrrr-supplies organized. I like to cook-the bigger the crowd the better. Guess that came from my Mom. Have seen several recipes on this site that I will definitely try. As a matter of fact I have tried one . The infamous HOT PEPPER BUTTERShimmyShimmy.

Well , so much for my maiden voyage. Hope it comes through. mommafox

Hi…I am Jane. 52's cousin Randy's significant other. Wow! that was complicated.   We met this summer at your farm. You baked us your Oatmeal Rum pie and it was delicious.  I have since made it for friends and all wanted the recipe. I was raised on a farm and love reading your blog everyday.  Just wanted to say Happy Thanksgiving across the miles.

Hope those Sam e people see that people do come here and stay a long while, even if they dont make themselves known. Ive been voting every day and had my daughter vote when she goes for classes.

We live in a rural area on 11 acres with our horses, pigmy goat. duck (ours dissapear one by one also), dogs and cat. I love it in the country and do plant my garden every year even though Im not good at it. I like to cook but need improvement. I have found fantastic recipes here that my husband has asked me to make again. I even catch him looking over my shoulder when reading the daily blogs. Well that is about all, Im glad to be here.Wave

Hi!  I figured it was about time I tried the forum – have been reading the blog for over a year and wouldn't start my day without it.  I've gone from being Mom L to Nancy L, but now I'm really Grandma L for the first time.  Moved from Atlanta to beautiful, serene, rural Iowa a few months ago.  Give me time to find my way around here.Sun  I really don't like to cook so I don't make much other than soups in the winter and anything that can go in the crockpot, but I made Suzanne's delicious scalloped corn yesterday to take to my daughter's house for TG – what a hit!  Next to the new baby grandson, that is.

Hello, all

My name is Berta and I really do make jewelry out of turkey leftovers. (Just the neckbones, –chickens too.). Haven't done so for awhile but now that I'm retired and in need of xtra income I will start crafting again. (Besides, those saved up bones need using). Something that different does get attention from art gallery owners.

Have been on CITR for a couple weeks now and realize that I should have introduced myself sooner. Not being very computer savvy, I am just learning the lingo… ( learned today how to move those dancing figures!).

I live with DH (Hope that stands for "Dear Husband"?) in SE Michigan in a small city of Victorian charm. We live in a spacious upper flat of a 100 yr. old home. We are renting here, but have yard and garden access so still able to grow veggies outside with flowers and herbs on a small balcony right off my kitchen. My husband worked in the steel industry…job gone and pension too, our home lost to foreclosure like so many others.

We have our health and most of our marbles, so to speak, and a grandchild, Emily, born just this August to my son and his wonderful wife.

DH writes, I dabble in poetry and fancy myself an artist– we're both serious readers, collect books (including cookbooks, natch) and I make everything from scratch, tho we're not the BIG eaters we used to be. DH has computer skills  tho I am a Luddite at heart and was never really interested in machines of anykind—he's getting a big kick out of me spending hours on line now. So am I!

Thanks, Suzanne, and to all who make this possible.  Best, Berta

So…. I've spent several hours (off and on) looking at all the commercialized Christmas decorations and trying to come up with something that "sparked" for me this season (took the tree/decorations/lights to the Goodwill last year) and was finding nothing.  In fact, I was beginning to think myself a Scrooge in the making so, I decided to think up some homemade decorations I could do with the kids, went in "google" of some inspiration and ended up here.  I've been exploring the site for about 2 hours now and I'm totally hooked.

My name is Angie.  I live just south of Indianapolis, IN in a nice little suburban neighborhood with lots of fences.  I have two wonderful sons (18 and 15), two beautiful daughters (8 and 3) and one little angel with 4 yr wings.  I've been on a slow but steady return to the simpler life I had as a child in southern Kentucky.  Even though I've only realized this shift quite recently, it's been a tug in the heart leading me back.

I'm looking forward to reading, trying out recipes and now…. decorating my home for Christmas.  Love the orange slices and gingerbread men.  I just have a feeling I'm gonna wake up pining for a view of Pruitt's Knob to enjoy with my coffee.Happy Flower

Hi everyone,

I discovered this site yesterday on a random web search for turkey recipes. I am hooked, so much information here, love the pictures too. My name is Laurie, live in Madison, WI with my husband of 10 years. I live near the edge of town so its easy to escape to the countryside.  My husband and I love nature and regularly go to our local state parks for a nature respite. Devil's Lake State Park is our favorite, its where we got married, underwater! We are scuba divers and its just as beautiful underwater, we play with the bass that live there :) I am a cook by profession but really want to be a photographer and am working towards an Associate in that field. I look forward to cooking the recipes I am finding here. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi I am Diane. I am a long time reader of the blog. Its my morning quite time and how I wake up. :)

I live in PA and for the moment I am a lunch lady at our local Jr high/highschool. I am also going to school online to earn a degree in Graphic Arts. I hope to make a living doing that instead of seeing a bunch of teen agers every day. I am married to a wonderful guy for 18 years and we have one dd 15. Life keeps me busy and I am always looking for more for some reason. Never happy with my current conditions I think.

I think I will visit the fourm more often. Looks like fun.

Hi, all!  I'm Linda and live in Spicewood, Texas (about an hour west of Austin), on 68 acres that's what's left of the much larger ranch I grew up on.  It's heaven!  I have Longhorn cattle, chickens, a milk cow, a few horses and five dogs (friends call me Spicewood's Unofficial Canine, Kitty & Equine Rescue ~ SUCKER for short *snicker*)  I love my critters.  One day I hope to add some wool sheep to the roster so I can spin the wool.

I work at an organic nursery on the edge of Austin and absolutely LOVE it.  Gardening is one of my true passions (spinning/knitting, reading and animals are my others).  I have quite a few ornamental beds, a couple goldfish ponds (in galvanized horse troughs) and a fairly large vegetable patch.  The veggies are my fave ~ have been growing them since I was a kid, when we grew all our own food in an almost-one-acre plot.  I don't quite have an acre planted yet, but I'm working on it, expanding all the time (just built a couple 4×4 square foot plots last night aamof, with another going in in the coming days).

I have a roommate named Helen, a native of Maine who winters here and goes back home in summer.  She's a hoot and loves to garden as well, so together we get a lot done.  Like yesterday.  Afterwards, we sat and drank a beer as we looked at what we'd just completed (yes, I have a sittin' spot out there ~ that's a MUST HAVE by the veggie patch imho).  Helen's companion is a border collie mix named Trekker ~ she and my heeler get along great (and I swear are plotting to take over the farm…).

Can't wait to get to know you all! Hug

BTW, I found y'all from a posting TXLady made on another gardening forum where we know each other.  She was asking for votes for Suzanne in the SamE contest.  I'm sure glad she posted that!  I've been voting for you in the SamE contest every day since, Suzanne, right before I read your latest blog post.  I sure hope you win.  You'd be perfect for the job.

Hi:  I'm Jane from Vermont.  Following you on Facebook and voting every day and reposting the voting link on my page, encouraging everyone to vote, vote, don't forget to vote.

I really hope you win because this website has substance and beauty, not fluff.  I love it.

I was raised in West Virginia, but spent more of my life in Vermont.  But, you can't be a Vermonter if you weren't born here (that's the Vermonter's rule) so guess I'll have to be a West Virginian.

I happened upon this blog one day goggling for something a few years ago and have been reading ever since.  I send links to everyone I think might be interested.  I love your writing and the beautiful pics Suzanne.

Tried your pie crust for apple pie this week and it was delicious.  Pretty easy too, had some tearing, but the easiest piecrust to patch I've every worked with.  Thanks.  Happy Flower

Just got a link to this site - really interested in learning all I can since I never learned it from my mamaw.  Would love to win the 100th anniversary edition of the Ball Blue Book of Preserving! I don't have a canning book. I'm short, old and fat grandma trying to develop skills I should have already learned.
