Good morning.  I live in Delta, Colorado, just turned the big 70, have 3 children (Florida, Hawaii and Texas), 17 grandchildren, and by summer's end, will have 5 great-grandchildren.  I maintain that being a grandmother is God's gift for having survived parenthood!  Seriously, I love my children and have a great husband.  I grew up in eastern Colorado and eastern Utah in the home of an educator and a very smart mom.  We have lived mostly in the west, with stints in Hawaii and North Carolina.  I love being a homemaker, doing family history/genealogy research, reading, sewing, and generally enjoying life.  I found this site while looking for "ham canning" recipes this morning.  Now to get the hams canned today.  I look forward to probably too many hours spent visiting this site!turtle

Hi all,

Just wanted to take a sec to introduce myself. I joined here awhile ago but haven't visited the forums much. I don't know why- they look incredibly useful and fun. happy-flowerAnyway, I am  a homeschooling mom of four  (all 10 and under) and just starting out in the whole "farm girl" life. So far, I've just got the chickens, but am making rather grandiose plans for our six acres! We live in New England.  Look forward to visiting here more often.

Hi ya'll!  My name is Tricia and I'm a horseaholic!  I live in NE Alabama on a small farm.  I'm been married to the sweetest Handy man for 24 years, and we have 2 grown children.  Our daughter is 22 (gulp!) and married, and our son is 19, still at home and in college.  Our farm consists of approximately 90 acres where we run a herd of cattle, a herd of goats, horses, mule, donkey, dogs and cats.  It's almost a full time job just taking care of all these hungry mouths, but I also work outside the home for an aircraft engineer.  I'm his girl Friday – lol.  I take care of his two horses and dog in addition to doing his bookkeeping and running his office while he's at Boeing in Charleston helping build the 787 Dreamliner.

Weekends usually find me in the woods on my horse – or occasionally on the boat with my husband fishing.  It's a crazy busy life, but I love every minute of it!

Farming with live animals is a 7 day a week, legal form of slavery.

Welcome to the forum, Tricia!

I bet your boss is just thrilled he has someone to do his books AND take care of his animals…I'm sure that's not a trait you'd find in every employee :)

Good morning.  I'm a 52 year living a great life in the beautiful piney woods of East Texas.  I recently decided to hone my 'county skills'.  First on the list – canning.  DH bought me a wonderful canner for Christmas… so the adventure begins anew.  I look forward to making new friends at CITR.

Welcome, etgal!  You'll love the canning experience…a very gratifying skill.  If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask…we're not experts, but there are many experienced canners on board happy-flower

Hi I’m Kathy, I stumbled across this site on the results list for a search request, while it wasn’t what I was looking for, I couldn’t resist a site titled “Chickens in the Road”.  I completely forgot about my original search and clicked.  After roaming around Suzanne’s West Virginia farm and meeting her family and neighbors, I was hooked.  For me, being raised a Kentucky farm girl; it was very much like going home.
