OfflineHello Everyone,
I have been around a while now but am finally getting around to introducing myself.
I am 57, married, and live in FL on the East coast. I enjoy couponing, cooking, crafting, container gardening and learning about food preservation and have plenty of time for it since I retired in 2008.
My husband was raised on a tobacco farm and his love of all things country has rubbed off and after nearly 40 years I am beginning to believe I picked tobacco too. I have tried my hand at making bread and jam and grown a few squash, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and garnered much satisfaction from having tried. Results were by no means expert but met my standards. I have made quilts and reupolstered simple projects. I have refinished a peice of furniture or two but I am not up for hard labor so I used stripper!
I enjoy seeing what everyone here is up to and getting new tips on how to do new things, discover new ideas, or sharing one of my own.
Oh btw, lest I misrepresent, that bread? Bread machine.

Lajoda, Just hang around here for a while and we will get you working.
Just pick up that crosscut saw and make yourself useful while I finish spreading this wheel barrow load of compost.
Yes Lajoda, Ross spreads quite a lot of manure around here…oops…er..I mean a lot of compost..![]()

OfflineThanks for the howdies, and warnings? Ross already got me on the wallpaper peeling thread, so I saw him coming.
Well I just roll up my sleeves and dig in. Good honest dirt washes off easily. If all else fails kneading a batch of bread will finish getting your hands clean.![]()
Reminder to myself: Do not eat bread made by Ross.

OfflineGood morning everyone. I'm here to introduce myself again.
My name is Denise and I live in North Carolina. I am a single mom of 3 and currently a full time student. I am trying to live a simpler life. We rent a home that we have lived in for about a year. There are certain things we are allowed to do. I would love to have some chickens, I just don't know how or what to get them as shelter.
Things are always tight finanically so I'm always looking for ways to save money. I look forward to getting to know everyone. I am going to try to stop by as often as possible.
Blessings to everyone.
Denise

OfflineHello
What a wonderful site!!!! I lurked for a few days then finally registered! This site feels like home
My name of course is Angelina, I'm 42 and my children are grown on their own. I live in Winchester, Va (in town 1/8 acre) but I also have a home in Bunker Hill WV (2 acres) that we just bought and fixing up so it can be lived in hopefully by us and not renters. I am trying to talk my sweetheart into moving there as I am a country girl at heart, and this in town living I have been living in for the last 2 years is for the birds!
Not that living in town is all bad, but I don't have enough room to garden, and I can't have chickens, goats or cows
So I am trying to come up with away to get him to agree, any suggestions for wheeling a city boy to the country would be great! Well, I didn't realize I had so much on my mind, so pardon my babbling.
I look forward to being a part of this forum if you fine folks will have me.
I enjoy Gardening, Wine-making, Crocheting, I am getting ready to start my Cheese making adventure for the first time, and after just reading the milk and basil soap recipe, probably soap too. Really I love doing anything "homemade" and I am super big on saving money.
