OfflineI'm Lainie, and I live in north Texas near Lewisville Lake. I dream of having a few acres out in the country, but for now I'm in suburbia on 1/3 acre. We don't have an HOA, but our zoning doesn't premit chickens in the backyard…yet. I've got a container veggie garden, I'm teaching myself how to use a pressure canner, and I am trying to relearn creative homemaking skills that are locked away in my cob-webby memory after decades of disuse. I'm married to a wonderful ol' retired Army guy; we have four adult children and four grandchildren.

OfflineHello! I have been reading blog posts and enjoying recipes from this site for a while, but I wanted to chime in and say hello. My name is Sarah, I'm married and have a 6 month old. I enjoy baking, cooking, canning, trying all recipes, and I originally found this site when I was trying to find an easy/beginner cheese recipe because I thought I'd love to try and make cheese.
My husband and I finally achieved our dream of a fixer upper on a few acres last October. We currently have chickens, geese, the house came with 2 donkeys (jacks), Pygmy goats, and rabbits, oh and 2 feeder pigs (Yorkshire). Hello! I look forward to gaining much knowledge from you all

OfflineMy name is Sabrina. My hubby and I have 10 kids (I only birthed one!) and I homeschooled the youngest two (ages 22 and 18) until this year.
I am 55 years old and my husband retired the end of 2011. We moved from South Carolina suburbs to South Central Texas country. We are currently building a home (actually the second building of it in the past 3 months, due to a tornado) and I have great plans for our new "homestead"! Not the least of which is to acquire furniture replacements.
Now that my house is enclosed, I can ask that if anyone has any extra rain, please send it our way! The ground is already cracking and our aquifer is down!

OfflineI live in Bigfork Minnesota (northern Mn.) and Sabrina, I would gladly send you some rain if I could. Not complaining, but we have had lots.
I am a retired gal, and married to a nice man. We both do lots of crafting and art. I love making anything I can from scratch, so I am thinking I willhave fun here. Am right now struggling with the ph of soap, but otherwise a good day
.
I make jewelry, do glass fusing, pottery, and soaps etc. Not to mention sewing. If only I could make a garden grow, I could be self sufficient. Thank goodness for farmers!!!!!!!
Hope to chat more later and be of help to someone eventually.

OfflineHi everyone,
My name is Maggins and I live in central Vermont. I stumbled upon CITR Monday evening and made a loaf of Grandmother Bread Tuesday morning … The Husband deemed it the best loaf he or I have ever produced
. Thank you!
We have 20 acres up here in hills. Retired from working off-hill several years ago. Bought a tiny camper and we are slowly touring the USA with our Golden Retriever.
I'm a knitter and a baker and a Red Sox fan and, yes, I love smilies

OfflineI thought I would introduce myself.~I'm Cher.
I'm also a buckeye girl~from NE Ohio (which is incredibly dry right now)~married 26 years and have 2 sons. One is 25, one is 19~both still living at home, but they both DO work fulltime. My 89 yr old father lives with us 6 months out of the year~and he's in Raleigh the rest of the time.
We live on 5 acres, but my MIL has 90 acres that surround us~she has the chickens and the cows..and we benefit from it~! We bail hay all summer, and grow a huge garden. I canned 60 jars of homemade spaghetti sauce last year.(LUV it)~also grow sweet corn., but this years crop look horrible due to NO RAIN!!![]()
Looking forward to getting to know you all~and learning learning learning something new!!

OfflineHello, ![]()
Thought I would start out by introducing myself to everyone. My name is Sandy Fowler (AKA Country Doodle or Mama) I am going to be 44 on the 27th of this month, mother to Trevor Reed, and wife to Tracy James, we are very laid back and move to the beat of our own drum. My hobbies are cooking & canning, reading, decorating, camping & quilting and scrapping::: I live in SW Ohio, between Hamilton & Oxford. I live in a little old farmhouse built originaly in the early 1900's, it was not recorded untill somtime in the 20's from what I have learned. While looking for some canning recipees the other day; I found a link to this sight:::can I just say I "LOVE IT", this is so me:::every little aspect screems my name:::except I don't have any live stock:::unless you count my 88 pound puppy??my soul mate:: Buddy, my Chocolate Lab/Pointer: he was bread to be a bird dog???instead he became my 2nd baby. I look forward to learning and exploring this sight some more and it is now listed as a favorite! to look at every day! My friends call me Mama or Country Doodle, ?? those got started in High School & stuck lol::: I hope to make more friends here:: I love to chit chat.
